Instagram auto-replies for copywriters

A copywriter posts a rewritten homepage headline and the comments ask for a look at their own page. Comment-to-DM replies with the questions you would ask on a call: what is the page for, and who reads it. It writes nothing for the client and cannot judge copy, so you do the audit yourself.

Comment words for copywriters

Ask people to comment one word in your caption or video. Each word sends something different.

AUDIT
How your copy audit works: what you review, what the client receives, how long it takes and what it costs, with a note that you read the page yourself.
HEADLINES
A checklist for testing a headline before it goes live: who it speaks to, what it promises and the one thing a reader should do next.
WEBSITE
Your website copy packages by number of pages, what research you do first, how many rounds of edits are included and the usual timeline.
EMAILS
How you write a welcome or launch email sequence: the brief you need, the number of emails and how replies and unsubscribes are handled.
BRIEF
Your copy questionnaire: audience, offer, tone, competitors, words to avoid and the proof the client can really show.
RATES
How you charge, whether per page, per project or per month, what a typical project costs and why you do not charge by the word.
EDIT
What you do when a client has already written the copy: a light proofread, a heavier edit or a full rewrite, and what each costs.

4 set-ups to try

Each one shows the conversation it creates. After a comment, the first DM is plain text, as Meta requires, and the link follows once they answer.

  • Copy audits from a homepage-teardown carousel

    Someone comments on your post

    AUDIT

    Public reply under their comment

Thanks, how audits work is in your DMs 🔍

    First DM (plain text)

Thanks for the comment. Which page would you want looked at, and what should a visitor do when they reach it? Reply and I'll send what an audit covers and how to book one.Yes pleaseCopy audit: what you getSee the audit

A teardown carousel gets comments from owners who suspect their own page has the same flaws. The page and its goal are the two things you need to decide whether an audit would help, and asking is a polite first filter.

  • Headline checklist from a before-and-after post

    Someone comments on your post

    HEADLINES

    Public reply under their comment

The checklist is on its way to your DMs ✍️

    First DM (plain text)

Glad the rewrite helped. Are you writing for a homepage, an ad, an email subject line or something else? Reply and I'll send the checklist I run every headline through.Yes pleaseHeadline checklistGet the checklist

A before-and-after of one headline is easy to share, and people reach for it when they are stuck on their own. Asking where the headline will appear lets you point them to the right part of the checklist, and shows who might be a paying client.

  • Rates for people who ask what you charge

RATESThanks for asking. What kind of copy do you need, and roughly how many pages or emails? Reply and I'll send my packages and how I work out a price for a project.Copy packages and how I chargeSee packages

Add PRICE and HOW MUCH to the same auto-reply. A bare “how much for a website?” can mean three pages or thirty, so asking for the number of pages or emails stops you quoting without knowing the size of the job.

  • Brief questionnaire from a before-and-after Story

    Replied to your story

BRIEFThanks for the reply. Have you written anything for this page yet, or are you starting from nothing? Reply and I'll send the questionnaire I ask every client to fill in before I write a word.Copy brief questionnaireGet the questionnaire

A Story with a rough draft next to the rewrite gets replies from people who are ready to hand over the problem. Whether they have a draft tells you if you will be editing or starting fresh, which changes the price.

What people ask a copywriter in DMs

Copywriters get asked for a lot of work before anyone has hired them. Business owners also assume that a quick rewrite is quick. These are the questions that arrive most, and where a fixed reply helps.

They askSend automaticallyAnswer yourself when
Can you look at my website? The AUDIT card, with a question about the pageThey want free feedback in the thread: point to the audit
What do you charge for a homepage? The WEBSITE or RATES cardThey want a quote: read the brief first
Can you rewrite this paragraph for me?Your policy on free samples, written onceIt is a long-standing client or a contact worth a favour
I wrote it myself. Can you just check it?The EDIT cardIt is long, or full of claims you cannot check
Can you write about our health supplement?Nothing automaticAlways: regulated claims need extra care, and you decide whether to take it on
Can you write 20 product descriptions by Friday? The BRIEF cardThey set a deadline you cannot meet

Tip: A fixed reply cannot judge a draft. If someone pastes copy into the thread, keep your answer to a line and send them to the audit or the checklist, rather than giving a free rewrite that sets the price at zero.

Posts that earn comments for a copywriter

  • A homepage headline before and after, with the reasoning in the caption, and HEADLINES for the checklist.
  • A carousel of five phrases to cut from a service page, with AUDIT for a full review.
  • A screen recording of a brief questionnaire being filled in, with BRIEF for the blank copy.
  • A Reel on why you do not charge by the word, with RATES for how you do.
  • A walk-through of a welcome email sequence, with the job of each email, and EMAILS for the outline.
  • A short story about a client who rewrote your copy before launch, told without naming them, with EDIT for what to do when a draft already exists.

Copywriting work peaks before product launches, before the end-of-year sales season and in the planning weeks of a new year. Many small businesses rewrite a website when they raise their prices or add a service. Put the matching words live a month before, and test each one by commenting from a second account.

From a comment to a commissioned project

  1. The first DM asks about the page, the goal or the number of emails. A reply with a URL and an aim is a lead you can judge.
  2. The card opens your packages page or a booking form. DMFast does not take diary slots, hold a place on your list or write anything for a client.
  3. Offer the headline checklist or the brief questionnaire for an email, and export the list as a CSV to send a note when your calendar opens.
  4. Use the single reminder for people who asked for an audit and went quiet. Many need a week to find the page's analytics.
  5. Read what they send before you answer. A person quoting a price on a page you have not read is how a project begins badly.

A copywriter in India could use the DMFast store to sell a template pack as a digital product, give the questionnaire away for an email and take free or paid 1-on-1 calls for audits, with payments through Razorpay. The commissioned writing is delivered and invoiced your own way.

Claims, clients and credit

  • Advertising claims. Copy for health, money and some other sectors faces extra rules that differ by country. Do not write a claim the client cannot back, and do not give advice in automatic replies on those subjects.
  • Testimonials. Quote a client only with permission, and keep numbers you cannot show out of your own page.
  • Confidentiality. Many clients do not want to be named. Show a rewrite with the brand removed unless they agree.
  • Ownership. Who owns the finished copy, and from when, is a matter for your contract. Have a local professional check your terms.
  • Results. A headline can lift clicks, but nobody can promise sales. Say what you will write, not what it will earn.
  • Meta's limits. One private reply per comment within 7 days, and automated messages only within 24 hours of someone's last message.

Questions people ask

Can the automatic reply give someone a free audit?

No, and it should not. DMFast sends the messages you wrote, so it can explain how your audit works and send a booking link. A real audit comes from you reading the page. AI replies on the Growth and Business plans draw only on the business information you provide.

Can the first message include the checklist link?

Not after a comment. Instagram allows only plain text in the first message to a commenter, so it asks where the headline will appear and DMFast sends the card once they reply. A Story reply or a DM someone sends first can get the card straight away.

Will it write replies in my voice?

Keyword replies send the exact words you write, so your voice stays intact. AI replies, on the Growth and Business plans, answer only from the business information you give them. They help with questions about packages and timelines, not with writing for a client.

Can I contact everyone who commented HEADLINES later?

Not by DM after the 24-hour window, and official tools do not send mass messages. Collect an email with the checklist, then use your newsletter. Check your local rules on marketing emails before you send.

Does it work on a Facebook Page for my writing business?

Yes. Comments on Page posts and Messenger messages get the same keyword replies. Story replies and the follower gate are Instagram only, and DMFast does not work with WhatsApp, Threads, TikTok or a personal Instagram account.
