Instagram auto-replies for recruiters

A recruiter posts a role and gets comments reading “interested” and “is it remote?”. Comment-to-DM asks each person what they do and where, then sends the role details. It should not screen, rank or reject candidates: a person decides who gets an interview.

4 set-ups to try

Each one shows the conversation it creates. After a comment, the first DM is plain text, as Meta requires, and the link follows once they answer.

  • Open roles from a “we’re hiring” Reel

Thanks, the open roles are in your DMs 👋

    First DM (plain text)

Thanks for your interest. What kind of role are you looking for, and which city or country would you work from? Reply and I'll send the roles that are open right now and how to apply.Yes pleaseOpen roles this weekSee the roles

A hiring Reel brings people with many different jobs. Asking for the type of role and location lets you send the right list and tells you quickly whether the person is in a market you recruit in.

On its way, the checklist is in your DMs 📄

    First DM (plain text)

Thanks for commenting. Are you updating a CV for a specific job, or starting from scratch? Reply and I'll send the checklist we give candidates before we put them forward.Yes pleaseThe CV checklistGet the checklist

A CV post reaches people who are early in a job search and may not be ready for a call. The checklist is useful to them now, and the answer tells you who is applying for something real and who is just starting.

  • Employer enquiries sent as a DM

HIRINGThanks for getting in touch. What role do you need to fill, and when do you want the person to start? Reply and I'll send how a search works with us and what we need from you.Working with employersSee how it works

Hiring managers who message a recruiter are often short of time. The role and start date are the two facts that decide whether you can help, and the card explains your process so your call starts further along.

  • Interview preparation from a Story

    Replied to your story

INTERVIEWGood luck with it. Is this your first interview in a while, or one for a role you really want? Reply and I'll send a preparation sheet with the questions people forget to ask.Interview preparation sheetGet the sheet

A Story asking who has an interview tomorrow gets replies from people already in a process, often with a recruiter somewhere. They messaged you, so the sheet can follow immediately after their reply.

What people ask a recruiter in DMs

Candidates write at all hours, usually between jobs or on a lunch break. Employers write less often but with more at stake. Most candidate messages have a fixed answer, and a few need a person who can judge fit.

Tip: Never let an automatic reply screen, rank or reject anyone. Use it to send information and to ask what someone is looking for. On the Growth and Business plans, tell the AI replies to say that a recruiter reviews every application.

Posts that earn comments for a recruiter

  • A Reel listing three roles you are filling this week, with the pay range if you can state it, and JOBS for the full list.
  • A carousel of the mistakes you see most often in CVs, with CV for the checklist.
  • A Story the evening before a Monday: who has an interview this week, with INTERVIEW in the reply.
  • A short clip answering what a recruiter can and cannot negotiate on pay, with SALARY for the guide.
  • A post for hiring managers on why a vague brief costs a month, with HIRING for how you work.
  • A post for final-year students on when applications open, with GRAD for the entry-level list.

Recruiting has rhythms. People look for a new job after a bonus date or a holiday, and graduate cycles open on a fixed calendar in each country. Put the keywords for those groups live in advance, and take a role down from the card the day it is filled.

From a comment to a candidate or a client

  1. The first DM asks for the type of role and location, or for the role and start date if the person is an employer.
  2. The card opens a page with the open roles and an application form or email address. DMFast does not connect to your tracking software.
  3. Offer the CV checklist for an email. A CSV of the addresses lets you write to people from your own email tool when a relevant role opens.
  4. Use the single reminder for candidates who started and stopped, but not for employers, who are better served by a call.
  5. Reply yourself to any message that mentions a rejection, a disability adjustment or a complaint.

A recruiter in India can use the DMFast store to sell a CV template pack as a digital product, give a guide away for an email and take free or paid career-advice calls, with payments through Razorpay. Placement fees are never charged there.

Rules and risks to check

  • Do not charge candidates. In many countries it is restricted or illegal for an agency to take fees from job seekers, and in others it is closely regulated. Check yours, and say plainly on the card that placement is free for candidates if that is true.
  • Automated decisions. Several places regulate automated screening of candidates, and some require a human to review decisions. Use automation to send information only.
  • Fair advertising. Job ads in many countries cannot specify age, gender or similar traits, and some places require a pay range. Check the rules where you advertise.
  • Candidate data. Keep passport copies, bank details and national ID numbers out of DMs. Tell candidates how their details are used and for how long, and check the data-protection law that applies.
  • Scams. Fake recruiters are common. Say in your first reply what you will never ask for, such as money or bank details, so real candidates can spot a fake.
  • Meta’s limits. One private reply per comment, within 7 days, and automated messages only reach a person within 24 hours of their last message.

Questions people ask

Can the automatic reply decide who gets an interview?

It should not. DMFast sends the messages you write, and asks the questions you set. Leave all selection to a person, and check whether your country has rules on automated screening of candidates before you add any step that filters people.

Can I send job alerts to everyone who commented before?

Not through Instagram. Automated messages only go to people who wrote to you in the last 24 hours, and official tools do not allow mass DMs. Collect emails with a lead magnet such as the CV checklist and send alerts from your own email tool.

Why can’t the first DM include the application link?

After a comment, Instagram allows only plain text as the first message. Ask what type of role they want, and the card with the link follows when they reply. If a candidate messages you first or replies to a Story, the card can follow at once.

How do I help candidates tell me from a scammer?

Put a short line in the first reply saying what you never ask for, such as payment or bank details, and where real applications go. Link to your official site on the card. That gives a worried candidate something to check.

Does it work for my agency’s Facebook Page?

Yes. Comments on Page posts and Messenger messages get the same keyword replies. Story replies and the follower gate are Instagram only, and it does not work with WhatsApp, personal Instagram accounts or Threads.
