Instagram bios for dog lovers
A good dog bio introduces the dog as much as the human: a name, a breed or a habit, and a hint of what the account shows. Copy one below, swap in your dog’s name, and let the photos do the rest.

Write your own
A bio that works usually has the same few parts. Fill them in for yours, or start from the example.
- Your dog’s name or breed
- A small habit or personality line
- What the account shows
- A next step or tag
Worked example
Biscuit the beagle 🐾 Professional nose. Part-time escape artist. Walks around Edinburgh. Say hi!

Tips for your bio
Use your dog’s name in the name field, for example “Biscuit the Beagle”. People searching for a breed or a dog’s name find accounts through the name much more than through the bio.
Decide the voice once. A bio written by the dog is fun, but if the captions are written by you the shift can feel odd. Pick one and keep it across the profile.
If you want brand deals or want to show a service, such as dog walking or training, switch to a Creator or Business account and say it plainly: “DM WALK for rates”.
Avoid giving your street, dog park or walking times in the bio. Telling strangers where you and your dog are every morning is a safety risk, so share general areas only.
Pin the funniest photo, your best portrait and a clip that shows your dog’s personality. A new visitor decides in a few seconds whether to follow.
Questions people ask
What should a dog account bio say?
The dog’s name, one line about their personality and what you post, such as walks, tricks or rescue life. If you offer a service, add a clear next step. Keep your exact location out of it.
Should I write my dog’s bio in first person?
Either works. First-person bios feel playful and are common for pet accounts. A parent’s voice reads warmer when you share training, health or rescue stories. Keep the voice the same in captions.
Can I earn money from a dog Instagram account?
Some do, through sponsorships, products or services such as walking and photography. Nothing is guaranteed, and brands care more about a real audience than follower numbers. Treat any income as a bonus, not a plan.
Is it safe to share where my dog is walked?
Share general areas, not exact times or routes. A fixed daily routine posted publicly tells strangers when and where to find you, so post walks after you have finished, not live.
How long can an Instagram bio be?
150 characters. Spaces, emoji and line breaks all count. Every bio above fits, and the counter beside each shows the length before you copy.
