Instagram bio ideas
Instagram bios for runners
Runners tend to have the best bios: short, a bit self-mocking and full of numbers. These are original bios to copy and adapt, from 5k beginners to marathon regulars, plus a set for run clubs and coaches who want people to get in touch.

Write your own
A bio that works usually has the same few parts. Fill them in for yours, or start from the example.
- Runner label: pace, distance or style
- One current goal or habit
- A bit of humour about the sport
- A link or a DM word, if you coach or run a club
Worked example
Slow and steady 10k runner 👟 Training for the autumn half in [city] Fuelled by flat whites and optimism

Tips for your bio
Name your usual distance rather than your speed. '5k to half' tells a stranger more than 'fast', and it keeps your bio honest as your running changes.
Update the goal line when the race passes. A bio that still says 'training for the spring marathon' in the autumn looks forgotten, and a goal you actually finished is a nice post.
If you run with a club, put its handle in the bio or tag it with @. Followers of the club can then find you, and it saves you a line.
Do not give a full home address, or a route you run every day at the same time. A neighbourhood name or a park is plenty if you want a local touch.
Coaches, keep the offer simple: one plan, one price or free chat, one way to ask. A link to a booking page or a short intake form works better than a long paragraph in the bio.
Questions people ask
What is a good Instagram bio for a runner?
Your usual distance or style (5k, trail, marathon), one current goal and a touch of humour. 'Slow runner, fast snacker' works because it is short, honest and easy to remember.
Should I put my race times in my bio?
Only if you want to, and only if you are sure of them. A personal best is a fine bio line, but it dates quickly. Many runners put the next race instead, and it gives followers something to cheer for.
How do I get more people to join my run club from Instagram?
State the day, time and place, who it is for, and one clear step, such as 'DM RUN'. Pin a post showing a typical session, and keep the bio free of insider talk that a new runner will not understand.
Can I use these bios for a running business?
Yes, particularly the club and coach set. Replace the placeholders, keep the offer plain and make sure the link in your bio goes to a page that matches what the bio promises.
How long can an Instagram bio be?
150 characters, counting spaces, emoji and line breaks. Every bio on this page fits within that, and the counter beside each shows how much room is left.
