Tips for your bio
Think about how much to share. Children’s names, faces, school names and exact ages can all be found by anyone if the account is public. Many parents use a first-name initial or “mom of two” instead.
Check privacy settings before you post. A private account lets you approve followers, which suits family photos. A public Creator or Business account helps if you want to grow an audience or sell something.
If you run a small business, say what you sell and who it is for in the first line, then add that you are a mom in the second. Customers decide on the offer first, the story second.
Pick one or two emoji. The 🤍, 🧸 and ☕ are common in mom bios, but too many look cluttered and push the useful words out of view.
Name your highlights after what you post: “Dinner ideas”, “Sleep”, “Days out”. A newer mom scrolling at night will go straight to what answers her question.
Questions people ask
What should a mom put in her Instagram bio?
Who you are, how you want to be seen and what you post. You can name how many children you have or leave it vague. If you sell something or run a blog, add one clear next step.
Should moms put their kids’ names in their bio?
It is safer not to. A public bio can be read by anyone, and names combined with a school, a town or a birthday make a child easier to find. Use “mom of two” or initials instead.
Is “mom” or “mum” right for my bio?
Use the word you use at home. “Mom” is the American spelling and “mum” is British, with “mama” and “mummy” common in both. Searchers use whichever they say, so you can put one in the bio and one in the name field.
Can a mom account make money?
Some mom accounts earn through products, services or brand work. Nothing is guaranteed and it takes steady posting and an engaged audience. Be honest in the bio about what you offer rather than promising results.
How long can an Instagram bio be?
150 characters. Spaces, emoji and line breaks all count. Every bio above fits, and the counter beside each one shows its length before you copy.
