Bios for influencers and creators

An influencer's Instagram bio has two readers: followers deciding whether your niche is for them, and brands looking for a way to reach you. The 50+ bios below serve both, with niche lines, personality lines, collab and contact lines, UGC bios, freebie keywords and bios for accounts just starting out, each under 150 characters.

Write your own

A bio that works usually has the same few parts. Fill them in for yours, or start from the example.

  1. Your niche, in plain words
  2. Who it's for
  3. A bit of personality
  4. A next step for followers
  5. A contact line for brands

Worked example

Budget food finds in Manchester 🍜 For students on a budget Everything rated out of 10 Free map: comment MAP Collabs: email button

Tips for your bio

  1. Switch to a Creator account and add your email as a contact option. An Email button then sits on your profile, so brands can reach you without the address eating into your 150 characters.

  2. Name the niche, not the job. “Influencer” tells a visitor nothing about what they'll see; “budget travel”, “oily skin” or “twin parenting” tells them in two words whether to follow.

  3. Disclosure belongs on each post, not in the bio. Use Instagram's paid partnership label or a clear #ad on every sponsored post; the FTC's guidance for US influencers says a disclosure only on your profile page isn't enough.

  4. Leave follower counts and engagement rates out. They change every week, and a brand that's serious about working with you will ask for screenshots of your insights anyway.

  5. Give followers and brands different doors. The link is for followers (your storefront, a freebie, the latest video); brands need the Email button and a media kit you can send when they ask.

  6. Make comment keywords short and exact. “Comment MAP for the Lisbon food map” tells people what lands in their DMs; “comment for info” doesn't, and fewer people will bother typing it.

Questions people ask

What should an influencer put in their Instagram bio?

Your niche, who it's for, a little personality and two next steps: one for followers (a freebie, a storefront or your latest video) and one for brands (an email address or the Email button). Leave out numbers, rankings and big claims; the grid makes the case better.

Should I write my email in the bio or use the Email button?

On a professional account the Email button is the tidy option, and a short line such as “Collabs: email button” points brands to it. Some creators type the address into the bio as well. That costs 20 to 30 characters, so do it only if you have the room.

Do I need a lot of followers to call myself a creator?

No. “Creator” describes what you do, not how many people watch. Brands also hire UGC creators to make videos that the brand posts on its own account or runs as ads, and for that work your portfolio counts, not your follower count.

Should my bio say I'm an influencer?

Usually not. People follow an account for the thing it posts about, not for the label. If you want a label anyway, a Creator account can show a category such as Digital creator or Blogger under your name, which does the job without using bio space.

What is a UGC creator bio?

UGC stands for user-generated content. A UGC creator makes photos and videos for brands to post or advertise with, so the bio reads like a short service listing: the kind of content, the industries you cover, your turnaround and where the portfolio lives.
