Write your own
A bio that works usually has the same few parts. Fill them in for yours, or start from the example.
- What you grow or care for
- Where: indoors, balcony, garden, allotment
- An honest detail or a joke
- A link or DM word, if you sell or teach
Worked example
Houseplants and balcony herbs 🪴 Second-floor flat, north-facing, very optimistic Free watering chart: comment WATER

Tips for your bio
Say where your plants live. 'North-facing flat' or 'sunny balcony' tells other growers what you are working with, and it is more specific than a general love of plants.
Put 'plants' or the type you grow in the name field, for example 'Mira | Houseplants'. People search for plant accounts by topic, and that field matters most to search.
Leave out the plant count unless you update it. 'Plant parent to 40' goes stale as soon as you get another cutting. A joke or a habit stays true for longer.
If you sell cuttings or plants, state what you can post and where. Rules on sending plants differ between countries, so 'delivery in [your country] only' is safer than a vague claim.
Do not give plant care advice in the bio that you would not stand by, such as exact watering schedules. Put detailed advice in a post and note what conditions it was for.
Use a highlight for 'Plant care' and one for 'New arrivals'. New growers will return to the first, and the second saves the bio from listing stock.
Questions people ask
What is a good Instagram bio for a plant lover?
One that names what you grow and adds something honest or funny, such as 'Fern friend, cactus survivor'. Add where you grow, like a balcony or an allotment, so other growers know what to ask.
Should I mention how many plants I own?
Only if you will keep it up to date. A number changes often, and an old one looks forgotten. A phrase like 'more leaves than furniture' stays true however many you have.
What should a plant shop put in its bio?
What you sell, where you are or deliver to, and one way to buy. Add opening days if you have a shop. Plants change weekly, so keep stock lists in posts or a link rather than the bio.
Do plant emoji matter in a bio?
A couple help the bio feel like your page, but a screen reader reads each emoji's name aloud. The familiar ones, 🌿 🪴 🌱 🌵, are enough, and a row of ten is hard to listen to.
How long can my plant bio be?
The limit is 150 characters, and spaces, emoji and line breaks all count. Each bio here fits, and the counter next to each shows how much room is left for your own details.
