Instagram bios for DJs
A DJ's bio should say what you play, where you play it and how to book you, in a voice that sounds like your sets. These original bios cover bedroom DJs, club residents and wedding DJs, plus a formula and tips on mixes, links and booking enquiries.

Tips for your bio
Name your genre or the kind of event in the first line. 'Wedding DJ' and 'techno DJ' attract different bookings, and a bio that says only 'DJ' leaves the visitor guessing.
Put 'DJ' and your city in the name field, for example 'Kai | DJ London'. That field carries the most weight in search, and event organisers often search by role and place.
Pin a clip of you playing to a crowd, and a second of your decks from above. Promoters and couples want to see how you work the room before they message.
Link to a place where a full mix can be heard, and say so: 'Latest mix: link below'. A short Reel shows your look, but a full set shows your taste.
Keep the booking step to one word. A DM keyword or an email button is enough, and add your usual hire details, such as own kit or travel area, in a highlight rather than the bio.
If you play under a stage name, use it consistently in the name field, bio and handle. Tracks, flyers and tags only help people find you if the name matches.
Questions people ask
What should a DJ put in an Instagram bio?
Your style or genre, where you play, a bit of personality and how to book or hear a mix. Keep it short enough to read in a glance, since promoters often scroll through many profiles.
Should I put 'DJ' in my Instagram name?
It helps. Instagram's search favours the name field, so 'Kai | DJ London' is more likely to appear for people looking for a DJ in your city than a name on its own.
How do I get booked through Instagram?
Make the next step obvious: a DM word, a contact button or a form link. Post clips from real events, show the crowd as well as the decks, and reply quickly, since people who want a DJ for a date often message several.
Can I use these bios if I'm just starting out?
Yes, there is a set for new DJs. Do not claim residencies or gigs you do not have. 'Learning to mix' or 'bedroom DJ' is honest and often well received.
Is it fine to use music emoji in a DJ bio?
Yes, one or two. 🎧 🎚️ 🪩 💿 suit the job. A screen reader reads each name aloud, so a long row of notes and speakers is tiring to listen to.
