Instagram bios for YouTubers

For a YouTuber, Instagram is the place to meet people who like your videos and send them to the channel. These original bios say what you make, when you upload and how to reach you, with a formula and tips on links, Reels and keeping the two platforms in step.

Write your own

A bio that works usually has the same few parts. Fill them in for yours, or start from the example.

  1. What your channel is about
  2. Your upload rhythm or latest video
  3. A line of personality
  4. How to watch or contact you: link or DM word

Tips for your bio

  1. Say what the channel is about, not just 'YouTuber'. People who already like your videos will follow either way, but a stranger only follows if the topic matches something they watch.

  2. Use the link for your latest video or channel, and say which it is. 'Latest video: link below' tells people what they will find, and you can update the link when you upload.

  3. Keep the upload day only if you stick to it. A bio that says 'every Friday' and a channel that has missed three weeks sends a mixed message, while 'new videos regularly' stays true.

  4. Use Reels to show a short, vertical teaser, and point people to the full video. Instagram viewers will rarely watch a long clip in the feed, so the teaser is the invitation and the channel is the destination.

  5. Make the business address obvious. If you take sponsorships, add an email button or a short DM word, and keep your rates in a media kit or an email reply rather than the bio.

  6. Keep your name the same on both platforms where you can. If the handle matches the channel, a viewer who finds you in a video comment can guess where to look for you.

Questions people ask

What should a YouTuber put in an Instagram bio?

What your channel is about, a way to watch it, and one line of personality. Add your upload rhythm if you keep to it, and a contact route for brand enquiries if you take them.

Should I link my latest video or my channel?

Either works. A link to the channel suits new visitors, while the latest video suits a launch week. State which one it is in the bio, and change the link when it stops being true.

How do I get Instagram followers to watch on YouTube?

Post short Reels that give a taste of a video and tell people where the full one is. Say it in the caption and in the bio link. Most people will not leave the app unless they are given a clear reason.

Do I need a Creator account as a YouTuber?

It is a good fit. A professional account gives you a category label, a contact button and insights, and lets you use some tools that personal accounts do not have. You can switch if it does not suit you.

Can I use these bios if my channel is small?

Yes. There is a set for new channels. Skip claims about growth or results you cannot back up, and be plain about where you are. Honest, small channels often feel more welcoming.
