Best time to post on Instagram on Monday

The three 2026 studies agree that Monday’s good hours start after lunch, but each draws the line somewhere else. Sprout Social’s Monday peak is short, 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Hootsuite gives a long stretch from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. Buffer’s top three Monday hours are 6, 7 and 8 p.m., with 7 p.m. first. Sprout Social’s and Hootsuite’s windows overlap from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m., and Buffer’s evening hours sit inside Hootsuite’s range, but no hour shows up in all three.

Later is the odd one out. Its 2024 data made Monday the strongest day of the week, but its Monday slots sit at the edges of the day, 5 a.m. and 11 p.m., and its best Reels slot was midnight at the very start of Monday. Buffer’s newer data, which runs to the end of 2025, rates 1 a.m. to 5 a.m. as the weakest hours on any day.

Because the studies split between mid-afternoon and evening, try one of each before you settle on a Monday time.

• Afternoon, 3 p.m. to 4 p.m.: the hour where Sprout Social’s and Hootsuite’s Monday windows meet.
• Evening, 7 p.m.: Buffer’s top Monday hour, and inside Hootsuite’s range.
• Early, 5 a.m.: only if your own chart shows followers awake then. It is Later’s pick and sits at the edge of Buffer’s worst hours.

Alternate the slots over four to six Mondays with similar posts, and compare reach and engagement two days after each one goes up. Leave public holidays out of the test: in the US and the UK many of them fall on a Monday, and a day off doesn’t follow a normal Monday routine.

1. On your profile, open Professional dashboard, then Total followers.
2. Scroll to Most active times. Use the view by day to see how Monday compares with the rest of the week, then the view by hour to see when people are on.
3. Look at Top locations too. If most followers live in another country, plan around their Monday, not yours.

The chart counts people who are online, not people who like, comment or share, so treat a busy Monday hour as something to test rather than a sure thing.

Schedule for your followers’ Monday, not your own. A 3 p.m. Monday post for followers in New York goes out at 12:30 a.m. on Tuesday in India while the US is on daylight saving time, and at 1:30 a.m. once US clocks go back. India doesn’t change its clocks, so the gap moves whenever the other country’s clocks do.

Clocks change on a Sunday in the US, the UK and the EU, which makes Monday the first working day on the new time. The US moves back on the first Sunday in November, the UK and the EU on the last Sunday in October. A post you scheduled by your own clock before that weekend can land an hour off for followers abroad.
