The best time to post on Instagram on Saturday

If you post on Saturday, aim for late morning or the evening in your followers’ time zone. Hootsuite’s 2026 data picks 11 a.m. and about 5 p.m.; Buffer’s picks 9 p.m., then 10 p.m. and 8 p.m. Expect less than on a weekday: Sprout Social and Later rank Saturday as the weakest day, and Buffer ties it with Friday.

Find your own best time

Studies pool many accounts at once. When your own followers are online matters more, and your insights show it.

  1. Open your insights in the Instagram app and look at your followers. Any public account has insights.
  2. Find the hours and days your followers are most active. Instagram shows them once you have at least 100 followers.
  3. Post a little before the busiest hour, and keep that slot for a few weeks.
  4. Compare each post’s views and interactions, then try an hour earlier or later.

Step by step: Test Saturdays against Saturdays

Saturday comes last in most of the data

Sprout Social, Buffer and Later all put Saturday at the bottom of the week. Sprout Social calls it the lowest day for engagement and gives no Saturday peak at all, Later ranks it the worst day, and Buffer ties it with Friday. Hootsuite comes at it differently: its best days are Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, and it still offers Saturday two windows.

A low average isn’t an empty app. Each study blends a huge sample of other people’s accounts, and your followers’ Saturday may look nothing like that blend. That is why the days view in your own Insights should get the final say.

Morning, evening or 5 a.m.: the Saturday split

The Saturday times fall into camps that never meet. No hour appears in more than one study.

8 p.m. to 10 p.m.Buffer, 2026All three of Buffer’s Saturday hours, with 9 p.m. first

To compare one daytime and one evening slot, take 11 a.m. and 9 p.m. They come from the two 2026 studies that name Saturday times.

When Saturday deserves a post anyway

  • Your chart disagrees with the studies. If the days view shows Saturday close to your best weekday, the averages don’t describe your followers.
  • Your customers come at weekends. A café, salon or market stall may want a Saturday morning post about that day’s hours or stock, even if the likes come in lower than midweek.
  • Your followers work on Saturdays. In India, for example, banks close only on the second and fourth Saturdays of the month, and for many people Saturday is an ordinary working day.
  • Saturday is the only day you can post that week. A Saturday post beats no post; just judge it against other Saturdays.

Test Saturdays against Saturdays

Because Saturday averages low, putting a Saturday post next to a Tuesday one mostly tells you that Tuesday is the better day. Compare Saturday slots with each other instead.

  1. Choose two slots: the busiest Saturday hour on your own chart and one study time, such as 11 a.m. or 9 p.m.
  2. Alternate them over six Saturdays with similar posts, so each slot gets three tries.
  3. Note each post’s reach and engagement two full days after it goes up, so the morning and evening slots get equal time.
  4. Leave out holiday weekends, which don’t follow a normal Saturday routine.
  5. Keep the slot that wins two of its three rounds. If neither comes close to your weekday posts, Saturday may not need a regular slot.

Questions people ask

Is Saturday a bad day to post on Instagram?

On average it is the weakest. Sprout Social says Saturday has the week’s lowest engagement, Later ranks it last, and Buffer ties it with Friday. Those are averages over many other accounts, though. If your Insights show followers active on Saturday, it can still earn a regular slot.

What is the best time to post on Instagram on Saturday morning?

Hootsuite’s 2026 data picks 11 a.m. and advises against posting before 8 a.m. Later’s 2024 data prefers 5 a.m., but Buffer counts 1 a.m. to 5 a.m. among the worst hours of any day, so 11 a.m. is the safer morning test.

Is Saturday or Sunday better for posting on Instagram?

Sunday, narrowly, in the three studies that rank days. Sprout Social calls Saturday the lowest day of the week and Sunday one of the worst; Later names Saturday its worst day; Buffer’s two weakest days are Friday and Saturday, which leaves Sunday above both.

Should I post Reels on a Saturday?

None of the studies we read gives Saturday times for Reels. Buffer’s Reels advice points to evenings on Wednesday and Thursday, and Later’s 2024 data found Monday the best Reels day. If you do post a Reel on Saturday, Buffer’s 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. hours are a sensible first test.

Do these Saturday times mean my time zone or my followers’?

Your followers’. Sprout Social, Buffer and Later all give times in the audience’s local time, and Hootsuite localised its data across 118 countries. If most followers live far away, schedule for their Saturday, which can begin while it is still Friday where you are.
