Best time to post on Facebook on Sunday
Post on Sunday morning, between about 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. in your audience’s time zone. Buffer’s three best Sunday hours and Hootsuite’s Sunday pick all fall in that band. Sprout Social disagrees about the whole day: its 2026 data makes Sunday the worst day of the week to post on Facebook, so test before you commit.
Studies checked
Short answer
Sunday morning, 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. local time, where Buffer’s and Hootsuite’s Sunday picks fall. Sprout Social rates Sunday the weakest day, so measure your own.

Where the numbers come from
Sunday’s best hours were 10 a.m., 9 a.m. and 8 a.m., in that order, all of them in the morning. Across the week, Wednesday was the best day and Saturday the worst, and 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. was consistently the weakest stretch of the day.

8 a.m. was the best time on Sunday. Two of its 13 industries peaked on Sunday: dining, hospitality and tourism (10 a.m. to 12 p.m.) and government (9 a.m. to 12 p.m.). Its time-zone lists put Sunday at 11 a.m. for Central European Time and 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. for Coordinated Universal Time.

Sunday was the worst day to post on Facebook, with engagement low throughout. Tuesday and Wednesday from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. were best. Of its nine industries, only software and tech had a Sunday slot, at 10 a.m.

Find your own best time
Studies pool many accounts at once. When your own followers are online matters more, and your insights show it.
- Open Meta Business Suite for your Page and start scheduling a post.
- Choose Active times to see when Meta expects your audience to be online. It needs some history first.
- Post a little before those times, and keep that slot for a few weeks.
- Compare each post’s reach and engagement in Insights, then try another slot.
Sunday morning, or not at all
The studies fall into two camps. Buffer and Hootsuite both find a usable Sunday and both put it in the morning: Buffer ranks 10 a.m. first, then 9 a.m. and 8 a.m., and Hootsuite names 8 a.m. That makes 8 a.m. the one hour on both lists. Sprout Social finds no Sunday window at all and calls it the worst day of the week for Facebook.
| Study | Sunday’s best time | What else it says |
|---|---|---|
| Buffer, 2026 | 10 a.m., then 9 a.m. and 8 a.m. | Its worst day is Saturday, not Sunday |
| Hootsuite, 2025 | 8 a.m. | Dining, hospitality, tourism and government Pages peak on Sunday |
| Sprout Social, 2026 | No peak | Engagement is low all day; the worst day of the week |
Part of the split comes from when and how each study gathered its data. Sprout Social’s data ran from November 27, 2025 to February 27, 2026, so its Sundays include the Christmas and New Year weekends. Buffer ranked 14 million posts by reactions, comments and shares, and Hootsuite blended more than a million business posts from 118 countries. Each figure averages thousands of Pages, and the followers of a café and of a software firm don’t spend Sunday the same way.
Which Pages do well on a Sunday
The industry splits are where Sunday looks strongest. In Hootsuite’s data, dining, hospitality and tourism has a single best window all week, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Sunday, and government Pages do best at weekends: 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, then 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Sunday. In Sprout Social’s data, software and tech is the only industry with any weekend time, 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. on Sunday.
The two reports don’t agree on the same industries, though. Sprout Social’s travel and hospitality windows are all on weekdays, from 10 a.m. into the early afternoon, and its government windows run from Tuesday to Thursday. A hotel or a local government Page gets opposite advice depending on which report it reads.
- Restaurants, cafés, hotels and tour operators: try Hootsuite’s Sunday 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. against a weekday late-morning post.
- Public bodies: test a Sunday morning slot against Sprout Social’s Tuesday to Thursday daytime windows.
- Software and tech: test 10 a.m., Sprout Social’s Sunday slot, against its weekday early mornings.
- Everyone else: start inside Buffer’s 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. band, the part of Sunday that two studies share.
Sunday moves with the time zone
Hootsuite also split its results by time zone, and the Sunday picks shift with the clock. Its Central European Time list includes 11 a.m. on Sunday, and its Coordinated Universal Time list is a single Sunday window from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. Its Eastern and Pacific lists skip Sunday entirely and favour Monday and Wednesday instead.
So Hootsuite’s 8 a.m. headline is a blend of regions. If most of your followers live in one of those zones, the regional list is closer to them than the global figure, even when it points to a Sunday afternoon that Buffer rates weak.
Tip: A Page with followers in several regions should schedule for its biggest group and check the rest. Sunday 8 a.m. in London is already early afternoon in India and around midnight in Los Angeles.
Check your Page’s own Sundays
Meta Business Suite shows when your followers were online. Sprout Social’s 2026 guide gives the route: select your Page in Business Suite, open Planner from the left-hand menu, click Create and then Schedule, and choose Active times.
That view covers the last seven days, which means it holds exactly one Sunday. A long weekend, a festival or a big match can make that Sunday unusual, so look again over three or four weekends before you trust the pattern.
Your post history adds a second view. Pull up your last 30 posts, mark the ones that went out on a Sunday, and compare their reactions, comments and shares per person reached with your weekday posts. Fewer than four Sunday posts is too few to judge; run the test below instead.
Test three Sunday slots
- 8 a.m.: the hour that appears on both Buffer’s and Hootsuite’s Sunday lists.
- 10 a.m.: Buffer’s best Sunday hour, and the start of Hootsuite’s dining and tourism window.
- One slot between 1 p.m. and 5 p.m.: inside Buffer’s weakest hours but inside Hootsuite’s Coordinated Universal Time window, so it tests the disagreement.
Rotate the three slots over six Sundays so each gets two posts, keep the type of post similar, and read the numbers 48 hours later. Leave out Sundays that break routine: Easter, Mother’s Day or Father’s Day, the middle of a long weekend, or a final your followers will be watching.
Plan who answers before you schedule. A public reply to a comment has no deadline, and a private reply to a comment can go out up to 7 days later. Messages are tighter: replies through Meta’s Messenger Platform, which chatbots and auto-reply tools use, must go out within 24 hours of the person’s last message. A question sent to your Page at 9 a.m. on Sunday can get such a reply only until 9 a.m. on Monday, unless the person writes again.
Questions people ask
Is Sunday a good day to post on Facebook?
It depends whose data you trust. Sprout Social’s 2026 study calls Sunday the worst day, with low engagement all day. Buffer’s worst day is Saturday, and its Sunday has a clear morning peak at 10 a.m. Hootsuite gives Sunday an 8 a.m. slot. If you post on Sundays, post in the morning and measure the results.
What time on Sunday gets the most engagement on Facebook?
In Buffer’s 2026 study, 10 a.m. did best on Sunday, followed by 9 a.m. and 8 a.m. Hootsuite’s 2025 report picked 8 a.m. Both describe the audience’s local time, so a Page whose followers are in India should read them as IST.
Is Sunday evening a good time to post on Facebook?
Not in most of the data. Buffer’s top Sunday hours are all in the morning, and Sprout Social finds no Sunday peak at all. Hootsuite’s list for Coordinated Universal Time does stretch to 7 p.m. on Sunday, but that is one regional list. Test an evening slot only if your Active times show followers online then.
Should a restaurant post on Facebook on Sunday?
Hootsuite’s 2025 data says yes: dining, hospitality and tourism did best from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Sunday. Sprout Social’s 2026 food and beverage windows are weekdays only, such as 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Monday. Run a Sunday late-morning post against a weekday one for a month and keep whichever wins.
Is Saturday or Sunday better for Facebook posts?
Buffer ranks Saturday the worst day of the week, which makes Sunday the better weekend day in its data. Sprout Social finds no peak on Saturday and calls Sunday the worst. Hootsuite gives both days an early slot: 6 a.m. on Saturday and 8 a.m. on Sunday.
