Is there a good time to post on Facebook on Saturday?

There is no strong time to post on Facebook on a Saturday. Buffer found it the worst day of the week, CoSchedule ranks it last of seven, and Sprout Social found no Saturday peak at all. If you post anyway, most of the hours the studies name fall between 6 a.m. and 10 a.m., with a late-evening exception in Buffer’s data.

Studies checked

Short answer

Saturday is the weakest Facebook day in most studies. If you post, test 6 a.m. (Buffer, Hootsuite), 9 a.m. (CoSchedule) or 10 p.m. (Buffer), local time.

Where the numbers come from

  • It found no peak time on Saturdays. Saturday and Sunday were the worst days, with the lowest engagement across almost all industries. Its industry list still gives software and technology a Saturday window, 7 a.m. to 9 a.m.

Sample: Nearly 2 billion engagements from 30,000+ customers, Nov 2025 to Feb 2026sproutsocial.com

  • Saturday was the worst day of the week, with significantly lower engagement than weekdays. Its best Saturday time was 10 p.m., with 6 a.m. and 9 p.m. also strong, far later than its Wednesday to Friday leaders, which all fall at 8 a.m. or 9 a.m.

Sample: More than 14 million posts on Facebook, by median engagementbuffer.com

  • Saturday ranked seventh of seven days, just behind Sunday. Its best Saturday hours were 9 a.m., 10 a.m., 1 p.m., 8 a.m. and 1 a.m., to be read in your main audience’s time zone.

    coschedule.com

  • Its best Saturday time was 6 a.m. Its industry table is kinder to Saturday than the other studies: government, healthcare, media and retail all have Saturday slots, and for healthcare, pharma and biotech it is the only day listed.

Find your own best time

Studies pool many accounts at once. When your own followers are online matters more, and your insights show it.

  1. Open Meta Business Suite for your Page and start scheduling a post.
  2. Choose Active times to see when Meta expects your audience to be online. It needs some history first.
  3. Post a little before those times, and keep that slot for a few weeks.
  4. Compare each post’s reach and engagement in Insights, then try another slot.

Three studies put Saturday at the bottom

On Saturday the studies agree, and the news isn’t good. Buffer names it the worst day to post on Facebook. CoSchedule ranks it seventh of seven. Sprout Social found no Saturday peak and says weekends brought the lowest engagement across almost all industries. Hootsuite still gives Saturday a time, 6 a.m., but its best time of the week falls on a Tuesday.

So if you post only a few times a week, these studies give little reason to spend one of those posts on a Saturday, unless you work in one of the industries below or your own numbers show your followers are different.

If you post anyway, where the Saturday hours fall

  • Early, 6 a.m.: Hootsuite’s Saturday time, and one of Buffer’s three Saturday peaks.
  • Mid-morning to early afternoon, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.: four of CoSchedule’s five Saturday hours, led by 9 a.m. and 10 a.m.
  • Late evening, 9 p.m. and 10 p.m.: both Buffer peaks, with 10 p.m. its best Saturday time.
  • After midnight: CoSchedule’s fifth Saturday hour is 1 a.m., in the small hours after Friday night.

No Saturday hour appears in more than two studies, so let your audience decide. If your Active times show followers up early, start with 6 a.m. or 9 a.m.; if they are online late, Buffer’s 10 p.m. is the one to try.

Industries where Saturday holds up

Industry data softens the picture. In Hootsuite’s table, Saturday is one of two days listed for government Pages, the other being Sunday, and the only day listed for healthcare, pharma and biotech.

Software and technology7 a.m. to 9 a.m.Sprout Social, 2026

Don’t treat these as settled. Sprout Social’s data sends government Pages to midweek instead, with long windows on Wednesday (11 a.m. to 6 p.m.) and Thursday (10 a.m. to 6 p.m.).

Saturday posts and a Monday inbox

A Saturday post that invites comments or messages can leave replies waiting until Monday. Comments can wait: a public reply has no deadline, and Meta allows one private reply to a comment within 7 days of it. Messages are tighter. Through Meta’s Messenger Platform, the standard window for a Page to reply is 24 hours from the person’s last message, so a message sent at 10 p.m. on Saturday needs an answer by 10 p.m. on Sunday. The human agent tag extends that to 7 days for support by real people, and it is not for marketing.

Tip: If nobody watches the inbox at weekends, keep Saturday posts to ones that don’t ask for messages, or say in the post when you will reply.

Saturday in your followers’ time zone

The studies give local times, so the Saturday that counts is your followers’. Across a big time difference, it may not be Saturday for you. Buffer’s 10 p.m. slot for followers in New York is 7:30 a.m. on Sunday in India while New York is on daylight saving time, and 8:30 a.m. on Sunday after US clocks go back on November 1, 2026.

To see whether your own followers are around at weekends, use Meta Business Suite. When you schedule a post in its Planner, an Active times option shows when your followers were most active over the last seven days, as Sprout Social’s guide describes. Meta moves these menus from time to time, so if you can’t find it, compare the reach of your past Saturday posts with your weekday ones instead.

Questions people ask

Is Saturday a bad day to post on Facebook?

For most Pages in these studies, yes. Buffer calls it the worst day, CoSchedule ranks it last and Sprout Social found no Saturday peak. Hootsuite’s industry data is the exception, with Saturday slots for government, healthcare and media Pages.

Is Saturday night a good time to post on Facebook?

Only Buffer says so: its best Saturday time is 10 p.m., and 9 p.m. is another of its peaks. CoSchedule’s Saturday hours run from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., plus 1 a.m., and Hootsuite’s is 6 a.m. Test a late slot only if your followers are online then.

Should a shop or restaurant post on Saturday?

A shop has some support: Hootsuite’s consumer goods and retail window, 8 a.m. to 10 a.m., runs from Wednesday through Saturday. A restaurant has less: Hootsuite’s dining, hospitality and tourism slot is Sunday, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., and Sprout Social found no Saturday peak overall.

Is Saturday or Sunday better for Facebook?

Sunday, narrowly. CoSchedule ranks Sunday sixth and Saturday seventh, and Buffer rates Saturday the weakest day of all. Sprout Social puts both weekend days at the bottom. Hootsuite gives Sunday a later best time, 8 a.m., against Saturday’s 6 a.m.
