Instagram auto-replies for yoga studios and teachers

Instagram DM automation lets a yoga studio or teacher send the week's timetable, a first-class guide or retreat details to anyone who comments or messages a word. It covers the questions the front desk answers all day, so students hear back even while a class is running and the phone is in the office.

4 set-ups to try

Each one shows the conversation it creates. After a comment, the first DM is plain text, as Meta requires, and the link follows once they answer.

  • Printable sequence from a short flow Reel

    Someone comments on your post

    FLOW

    Public reply under their comment

The full sequence is in your DMs 🧘

    First DM (plain text)

So glad the flow helped. I've turned it into a one-page sheet with every pose named and how long to hold each. Shall I send it? Just reply here.Yes please10-minute morning flow, printableGet the flow

Short flows get saved by people who do yoga at home and may never have visited the studio. The sheet gives them a reason to reply, and its footer can carry your address and class times. Teachers growing their own account can turn on “Only send to followers”, so the sheet goes out once the person follows.

  • First-class guide for nervous beginners

    Someone comments on your post

    BEGINNER

    Public reply under their comment

Welcome, check your DMs for the guide

    First DM (plain text)

Hi, and welcome. A first class can feel like walking into a room where everyone knows the rules. Would a short guide help? Reply and we'll send it, along with our new-student offer.Yes pleaseYour first class: what to expectRead the guide

Turn on email capture for this one. Someone who asks for a beginner guide may not book for weeks, and automated Instagram messages can only reach them within a day of their last message. With an email, the studio can send the intro offer again when it suits.

  • This week's timetable from the Sunday Story

    Replied to your story

SCHEDULEPlanning your week? Wednesday's evening class has a substitute, and there's an extra yin class on Saturday morning. The full timetable, with levels and teachers, is below. This week's classesSee the timetable

Timetables change weekly: subs, holidays, a workshop that replaces a regular class. A DM gives people the current week rather than a screenshot someone saved a month ago. Update the message whenever you post the new Story.

  • Retreat details for “is there space?” messages

RETREATThanks for asking about the retreat. Wondering what's included? The pack below covers the dates, room options, meals, the daily practice and how the deposit works.Retreat: dates, rooms and bookingSee the retreat

Retreat questions start months before the dates, and many arrive late at night. The pack answers the first round, so your own replies can focus on what only you can judge, such as whether the daily practice suits a beginner.

Freebies worth commenting for

  • A side-by-side guide to hot, yin, vinyasa and restorative classes
  • A 7-day home practice calendar for the week before a first studio class
  • A five-minute breathing audio for winding down before sleep
  • A sun salutation chart, pose by pose, with the breath for each movement
  • A guide to studio etiquette: arriving late, phones, props and when to rest
  • What each prop is for: blocks, straps, bolsters and blankets
  • A retreat packing list, including what to leave at home
  • A 30-day home practice challenge with a short video for each day

What students ask a yoga studio in DMs

Most questions come from people who haven't been to a class yet, and they arrive while a teacher is teaching and the phone is face down at the front desk.

Before a first class

  • “I can't touch my toes. Can I still come?” Send BEGINNER, with the classes you suggest for a first visit.
  • “Do I need my own mat?” Answer it in the same guide: whether you lend, rent or sell mats.
  • “How hot is the hot class?” Put the room temperature and what to bring on the timetable page.
  • “Is this class OK if I've never done yoga?” Mark levels on the SCHEDULE card so people can check for themselves.

Passes and prices

  • “Is there an intro offer?” Send INTRO, with the expiry date written into the message.
  • “Do class packs expire?” Spell the terms out on your pricing page, and handle pause or extension requests yourself.

Answer these in person

  • Pregnancy, injuries, recent surgery or a health condition. Reply personally and suggest they check with their doctor or midwife first.
  • Complaints about a class or a teacher, and teachers asking about cover or jobs.

Posts that earn comments for a studio

  • A 10-minute flow filmed in the empty studio, with FLOW for the printable sheet.
  • A first visit from the door to the mat: where shoes go, where to collect props, where to sit if you're early. Add BEGINNER.
  • A teacher introduction, made with the teacher's consent, that ends with SCHEDULE for their classes this week.
  • The weekly timetable as a Sunday Story, with SCHEDULE in the text so replies get the full week.
  • A tour of the retreat venue, with RETREAT.
  • A graduate of your teacher training describing a typical training weekend, with TRAINING.
  • A one-minute breathing practice, with BREATHE for the longer audio.

The studio year, and when to set each word up

  • January: many studios see a wave of new students. Have BEGINNER and INTRO live before New Year's Day.
  • September: people come back to routines after summer. Refresh the timetable card and the intro offer.
  • Summer in holiday towns: visitors look for drop-in classes. Put the drop-in price on the SCHEDULE card.
  • Retreat season: questions start months ahead. Have RETREAT ready on the day you announce the dates.
  • Teacher training intakes: a 200-hour training is a big decision that many people think over for a while. Collect emails on TRAINING so you can invite them to the next open evening.

Tip: If you teach a class on Instagram Live, set the word up before you start. Comments made during a Live can only get a private reply while the Live is running.

Things to keep in mind

  • Ask before students appear in photos or Reels, and keep anyone who says no out of shot. Some people come to class precisely because it's private.
  • Describe what a class involves, not what it will cure. Rules on health claims in advertising differ by country, so check yours before promising relief from back pain or stress.
  • FLOW turns up in ordinary comments such as “love this flow”. Set it on the one Reel it belongs to, so comments on your other posts don't trigger it.
  • Teachers who work at several studios can run their own keywords on a Creator account and point each card at the right studio's booking page.

Messages to copy

Questions people ask

Can it tell each person which class suits them?

Keyword replies send the same message to everyone who uses the word, so let the BEGINNER guide do the sorting. On the Growth and Business plans, AI replies can answer “which evening class is gentlest?” from the timetable notes you provide, and say someone will reply when the answer isn't there.

Can it message students when a class is cancelled?

Not in bulk. Automated messages can only go to people who wrote to you in the last 24 hours, and no official tool messages everyone at once. Post a Story, update the SCHEDULE message, and send direct notices through your booking system.

Does it work for a teacher without a studio?

Yes, with an Instagram Creator or Business account. If you teach at several places, link the SCHEDULE card to one page that lists each class, where it is and how to book it.

Can we sell class passes or online sessions through DMFast?

DMFast sends people to the booking page you already use. In India, its store can also sell recorded classes or PDFs as digital products and take bookings for 1-on-1 online sessions, paid through Razorpay, with no DMFast fee on sales.

Will automated replies feel cold to our community?

They read as cold when they sound like a form. Write the first message the way your front desk talks, keep it to two or three lines, and step in yourself when someone shares something personal. The automation answers first; it never stops you replying.
