Instagram auto-replies for lash and brow artists

Lash and brow artists can't type with tweezers in hand, so “price for a full set?” and “can I still get an infill?” wait until the client leaves. Instagram DM automation answers them for you: someone comments or messages a word such as PRICES, INFILL or LAMI, and your menu, rules or booking link arrive by DM, even halfway through a full set.

Comment words for lash and brow artists

Ask people to comment one word in your caption or video. Each word sends something different.

PRICES
The whole menu on one card: classic, hybrid and volume full sets, infills by week, lash lifts, lamination, tints and shaping, each with how long it takes.
INFILL
Your infill rules: how many weeks still count, how many extensions must be left, and what you charge to fill a set another artist applied.
PATCH
How to book a patch test: how long it takes, how far ahead of the appointment it has to be, and which treatments need one.
AFTERCARE
The aftercare card: how long to keep lashes dry, brushing with a spoolie, why oil-based cleansers loosen the bond, and why picking pulls out natural lashes too.
LAMI
What brow lamination is, how long the shape usually holds, who it doesn't suit, and the before-and-after from the Reel.
STYLES
A photo guide to natural, doll eye, cat eye and wispy sets, with the eye shapes each one tends to suit.
PMU
Semi-permanent brows explained: microblading versus powder brows, the consultation, the touch-up visit and how brows change as they heal.
COURSE
Your lash or brow training: dates, kit, price, class size and what the certificate covers, for followers who want to become artists.

4 set-ups to try

Each one shows the conversation it creates. After a comment, the first DM is plain text, as Meta requires, and the link follows once they answer.

  • Lamination prices from a before-and-after Reel

Prices and free times are in your DMs ✨

    First DM (plain text)

Hi, thanks for watching. Lamination takes about an hour, and first-timers need a quick patch test a day or two before. Shall I send the prices and the next free times? Reply here and they're yours.Yes pleaseBrow lamination: prices and timesBook lamination

People often comment on a lamination Reel because they want the look for something soon: a wedding, a holiday, a night out. Mentioning the patch test in the first message turns “can I come tomorrow?” into two short visits before anyone books, which saves a cancelled slot and an awkward talk on the day.

  • Infill rules for “can I book a fill?” messages

INFILLThanks for messaging. An infill is up to three weeks after your last set, with at least half your lashes still on; after that it's booked as a new full set. Were your lashes done here or by another artist? Booking for both is below.Infills: rules and bookingBook an infill

Most lash price disputes happen at the infill, when a client arrives at week four with a third of the set left. Stating the rule up front settles it before the booking; use your own numbers. Asking who did the last set matters, because filling another artist's work means checking every extension first.

  • Patch-test bookings from a party-season Story

    Replied to your story

PATCHGood timing, December books up fast. New clients need a ten-minute patch test a day or two before the appointment, so it's worth fitting in this week. What's the date of your event? Reply with it and I'll find times that work.Book a 10-minute patch testChoose a time

Party season, proms and holidays bring first-timers with a fixed date. A Story reply lets you explain the patch test once, and because they wrote to you first, the booking card can follow at once. The event date tells you which pair of slots to offer when you reply yourself.

Hi, thanks for your interest in training. Are you completely new to lashes, or already working and hoping to add volume? Reply and I'll send the right course, with dates, kit and price.Yes pleaseLash training: dates and kitSee the course

Training posts reach people who want to do lashes, not wear them, so they need a different message from clients. The answer tells you which course to talk about. Turn on email capture too: students often decide over weeks, and an email outlasts Instagram's 24-hour messaging window.

What clients message a lash artist mid-set

A full set keeps both hands busy for a couple of hours, and the client can't see a thing while you work, so the phone stays face down. Most of what arrives in that time has a fixed answer. A few messages need you, and one kind needs you the same day.

MessageAuto-reply sendsStep in yourself when
“Price for a full set?”PRICES, with each service and how long it takesThey want a price for fixing another artist's set
“Can I still get an infill?”INFILL: the weeks, and how many lashes must be leftThey're past the window and ask for the infill price anyway
“Will extensions ruin my own lashes?”AFTERCARE, which explains natural shedding and what really causes damageThey describe gaps or thinning after a set done elsewhere
“My eyes have been puffy and itchy since yesterday”Nothing: this one is yoursAlways, the same day: offer a removal and suggest a pharmacist or doctor
“Can I have a lash lift while pregnant?”Nothing automaticAlways: check your insurer's terms and the product instructions, and suggest they ask their midwife
“Do you do microblading?”PMU: the consultation, touch-up and healingThey want old semi-permanent work corrected
“When's your next course?”COURSE: dates, kit and priceThey ask whether their insurer will accept your certificate

Tip: Keywords can hide inside real problems. “My eyes stung after my infill” contains INFILL, so it would get the booking reply. Read new DMs at least once a day, and word the INFILL message so it never sounds dismissive to someone who's having a reaction.

Lash and brow posts that bring in bookings

  • A lamination Reel that films the brush sweeping the hairs into place, with LAMI. Shoot the before and after in the same window light so the change is honest.
  • The lash map drawn on the under-eye pad, then the finished set, with STYLES for the style guide.
  • The same client at two weeks and at four weeks, shared with permission, to show why the INFILL window exists.
  • Fresh semi-permanent brows beside the same brows healed, with PMU, so people see how much they soften.
  • A calm walk-through of a first appointment: the bed, the pads, the eyes-closed part. Add PRICES.
  • A student's first practice set on a mannequin head, with COURSE.

Tip: Skip LASHES, BROWS and WISPY as keywords. Under any lash post, people write “those lashes!” and “obsessed with the wispy ones” all day, and each of them would be sent your price list.

Patch test, full set, infill: the lash calendar

  1. Patch test: a few extensions or a dab of tint, a day or two ahead, as the product's instructions say. LAMI and PATCH both mention it, so nobody books a first visit for tomorrow.
  2. Full set: the card opens your booking page. Put the infill window in the confirmation your booking system sends.
  3. Infill, usually every two to three weeks. The reminder comes from your booking system or by email, not from Instagram.
  4. Removal: when a client wants a break, book a professional removal rather than letting them pick the set off.

Diaries fill before Christmas and New Year's Eve, through prom and wedding season, and before summer holidays, when a lift appeals because most people can skip mascara by the pool. In India, the wedding season and Diwali bring the same rush. Have PATCH running a few weeks before each peak, since every new client needs that extra visit.

Working in India? The DMFast store can take free or paid 1-on-1 calls, which suits a semi-permanent brow consultation, and sell a lash-mapping workbook to students as a digital product, with payments through Razorpay and no fee from DMFast.

Licences, photos and the platform's rules

  • Patch tests: most adhesive and tint makers tell you to run one, and your insurance may depend on following their instructions. Record the result on your consultation form, not in a DM thread.
  • Semi-permanent brows break the skin, so in many places they need the same licence or registration as tattooing. Check with your local council, health department or state board before you advertise PMU.
  • Photos: ask before posting a client's eyes, and offer a crop. Some people are happy to show the lashes but not the whole face.
  • No filters on before-and-after shots. They make lashes look fuller and brows sharper than any treatment can, and some countries' advertising rules treat that as misleading.
  • Instagram allows one private reply per comment, sent within a week of it. A lamination Reel that takes off can pass the cap of 750 private replies an hour; DMFast stays under 700 and sends the rest as the limit allows.
  • Automation needs an Instagram Creator or Business account, or a Facebook Page for Messenger. Story replies and mentions only work on Instagram.

Questions people ask

Can it remind clients when their infill is due?

Not through Instagram. An infill reminder would go out two or three weeks after the client last wrote to you, and Meta only allows automated DMs within 24 hours of someone's last message. Use your booking system's reminders or email, and let the aftercare card tell clients when to book.

I work from home. Will the auto-reply give out my address?

Only if you write it into a message. Keyword replies go to anyone who types the word, so leave your street address out of them and send it in the booking confirmation instead. The PRICES card can name the area you work in without the house number.

Lots of my DMs just say “price?”. Will they get an answer?

Yes, if PRICE is one of the words on the reply. Keywords match whole words, so put PRICE, PRICES, COST and HOW MUCH on the same auto-reply, and one-word messages get the full menu. Each person gets it once a day, however many times they ask.

Will AI replies answer questions about reactions?

Not if you set them up with care. AI replies, on the Growth and Business plans, answer only from the business information you write. Add a line saying reactions, eye conditions and pregnancy questions get a personal reply, and the AI will say you'll be in touch rather than guess.

I rent a room in someone else's salon. Can I still use it?

Yes. It runs on your own Instagram Creator or Business account, not the salon's, so your words and cards point to your own booking page. If the salon automates its account too, agree who answers what, so a client who tags you both in a Story doesn't get two thank-yous.
