Instagram auto-replies for streetwear brands
A streetwear brand lives and dies by the drop: a quiet fortnight, then hundreds of people asking about fit and release time within minutes. Comment-to-DM lets one word answer them all. Here are the words, four set-ups, and how to build a list that survives a sold-out launch.

Comment words for streetwear brands
Ask people to comment one word in your caption or video. Each word sends something different.
- DROP
- The release date and time in your audience's time zone, and a reminder that early access goes to the people on your list.
- FIT
- A fit guide that says how each cut runs, boxy or regular, with garment measurements and what size the model wears.
- SIZE
- The size chart for the piece in the post, plus what is left in each size right now.
- RESTOCK
- A place on the list for the sold-out hoodie or tee, so the email goes to them first when it returns.
- COP
- A short route to the product page for the piece they want, for people who ask where to get it in comments.
- CODE
- The early-access or community code for the next release, given only to people who comment on the teaser.
- COLLAB
- How artists, skaters and other brands pitch a collaboration: what you need to see and where to send it.
- WALLPAPER
- A phone wallpaper from the lookbook, free for people who engage with the teaser.
4 set-ups to try
Each one shows the conversation it creates. After a comment, the first DM is plain text, as Meta requires, and the link follows once they answer.

You're in, check your DMs 🔥First DM (plain text)
Locked in for the drop. Want first dibs on the early-access link? Reply YES and tell me which piece you're after, and I'll add you to the list.Yes pleaseDrop day: early accessJoin early accessEarly access is what makes people comment on a countdown. The messaging windows do not let you DM a crowd on release day, so this set-up exists to collect an email for the drop. You can export the list as a CSV.

Good call checking. Do you like your hoodies oversized or true to size? Reply and I'll point you to the right size for that cut, with the measurements.Yes pleaseFit guide and size chartSee the fit guideOversized cuts make sizing confusing, and most streetwear returns are a size that turned out too big or small. Asking how they like to wear it gives a better answer than a chart alone.
Restock alerts from a DM
RESTOCKThanks for asking. Which piece and size are you waiting for? Reply with both and I'll add you to the restock list so you hear first.Restock listJoin the listAdd WHEN BACK, SOLD OUT and AGAIN to the same auto-reply, because few people use the same word. Knowing which size people want tells you what to reorder.
Community code from a Story
Replied to your story
CODENice, you caught the Story. Want the community code for the next release? Reply YES and I'll send it, along with the release time.Your community codeGet the codePeople who reply to your Stories are your core audience. Rewarding them with a code gives them a reason to keep watching, and since they wrote first, the code arrives straight after their answer.

What people ask a streetwear brand in DMs
Streetwear DMs arrive in waves, around a teaser, a drop or a restock. A few answers cover most of them.
| They ask | Send automatically | Answer yourself when |
|---|---|---|
| When does it drop? | The DROP reply with date and time | They are in a time zone you have not listed |
| Is it oversized? | The FIT guide with measurements | They send body measurements and want a size picked |
| Will you restock this? | The RESTOCK sign-up, and only if you plan to | It is a numbered run you have said will not return |
| Where's my order? | Your tracking page, if you have one | The parcel is late or lost |
| Can we collab? | A short note on what to send and where | Always: this is a business conversation |
| Is this a scam? | Your site, returns policy and contact details | They have a specific worry about a payment |
Tip: Scarcity claims have to be true. If you say a run is limited to 200 pieces, keep a record of that number. Consumer rules in many countries treat made-up scarcity as misleading.
Building a drop around comments
- A two-week-out teaser Reel: show a detail of the piece, not the whole thing, with DROP in the caption.
- A fit video on a person of average height, with FIT for the guide and the model's size in the caption.
- A Story with a countdown sticker and a reply word, CODE, for the community code.
- A behind-the-scenes clip of the print being pulled or the labels being sewn, with WALLPAPER or a lookbook.
- A post for the sold-out colour, with RESTOCK for the waiting list.
- A collab announcement, with COLLAB for people who want to be next.
Streetwear peaks around seasonal collections, back-to-school, the run-up to winter and the festive weeks. Whatever the calendar, set up and test all your words a week before a teaser goes live.
Drop day, step by step
- Teaser weeks: every DROP comment is answered, and emails accumulate. Export the CSV the night before.
- Release hour: email the list the link. Post a Story with a reply word, since people who reply to a Story can be sent the link directly.
- During the rush, a post that goes viral can pass Instagram's cap of 750 private replies per hour. DMFast stays under 700 and queues the rest, so some replies arrive later.
- After the drop, edit each first message to say it has sold out, and move the card to the RESTOCK list so late commenters are not sent to a dead page.
An India-based brand can use the DMFast store for digital products such as wallpapers or a lookbook, and for lead magnets exchanged for an email and phone number, with payments through Razorpay. Garments sell from your own shop.
Rules and risks specific to drops
- Auto-replies cannot stop bots or resellers. Each person is answered once a day per auto-reply and spam comments are skipped, but your shop needs its own bot protection and order limits.
- Collaborations and artwork need written licences. A skater's or illustrator's design on your tee should have an agreement about use, region and time.
- Sell your own designs. Lookalikes of another brand's logos or prints bring takedowns, and Instagram removes accounts that sell counterfeit goods.
- Do not promise a delivery date you cannot meet during a drop. Say “ships within X days” only if you track it.
- Meta allows one private reply per comment, within 7 days of it, and only Business and Creator accounts can use the messaging tools.
- Pick words that fit your voice and are rare in normal speech. COP and DROP are less likely to fire by accident than SIZE or NEW.

Questions people ask
Can I DM everyone on the waitlist when the drop goes live?
Not through Instagram. Automated messages can reach someone only within 24 hours of their last message, and official tools do not send mass DMs. That is why the early-access set-up collects emails, and why a Story with a reply word helps on the day.
Will it handle thousands of comments when a drop goes viral?
DMFast keeps under Instagram's cap of 750 private replies an hour, queuing the rest, so a big rush means some people wait for their DM. Each person is answered once a day per auto-reply, which keeps duplicate comments from adding to the queue.
Can the first message include the product link?
Not when someone comments. Instagram allows no links or buttons in the first DM to a commenter, so it asks a question first, and the card with the link follows after they reply. For Story replies and direct messages, the card can go straight out.
Does it work with a brand run from a personal Instagram account?
No. It needs a Creator or Business account, and switching is free in Instagram's settings. It also works with Facebook Pages through Messenger, though Story replies and the follow gate are Instagram features only.
Can I limit the early-access code to people who follow us?
Yes, on Instagram. The follow gate, available on paid plans, asks people to follow before they receive the card. It is not available on Facebook, where followers cannot be checked in the same way.
