Instagram auto-replies for jewelry brands

People ask a jewellery brand the same careful questions before buying: what size, what metal, will it turn my skin green, can you engrave it. Comment-to-DM answers each one with a single word. Here are the words, four set-ups with the first message, and the gifting dates that matter.

4 set-ups to try

Each one shows the conversation it creates. After a comment, the first DM is plain text, as Meta requires, and the link follows once they answer.

  • Ring size guide from a ring Reel

Good question, ring sizes cause the most returns. Do you already own a ring that fits well on the finger you'll wear this on? Reply yes or no and I'll send the right sizing method for you.Yes pleaseFind your ring size at homeGet the guide

A wrong ring size means a return or a resize, so a good size answer saves money on both sides. The question helps you send the printable sizer to people without a ring that fits and the conversion chart to people who have one.

  • Gift ideas from a gift guide post

    First DM (plain text)

Lovely, shopping for someone special? Who is the gift for, and roughly what budget are you thinking of? Reply and I'll send picks that arrive in time.Yes pleaseGifts by budgetBrowse gifts

Gift buyers have a deadline and often a person in mind but not a piece. Knowing the recipient and budget lets you reply personally to the bigger orders, and the card sorts everyone else by price.

  • Custom and engraved orders from DMs

CUSTOMWe'd love to make something personal. What do you have in mind, and is there a date you need it by? Tell me and I'll explain the process, the lead time and the price range.Custom orders: how it worksSee the process

Custom requests are your highest-value enquiries and they are the ones that stall when the reply is slow. Asking for the occasion and the date tells you at once whether the deadline is realistic.

  • Materials and skin sensitivity from a Story

    Replied to your story

MATERIALThanks for asking. Do you have sensitive skin or a nickel allergy? Reply and I'll send what each piece is made of, so you can pick ones that suit you. What our pieces are made ofSee materials

A Story showing a gold-coloured piece draws questions about whether it is solid or plated. Replying to a Story means they wrote first, so the materials page can follow straight away.

What people ask a jewellery brand before they buy

Jewellery is bought with care and worn for years, so the questions are specific. The table shows which have a fixed answer and which need you.

They askSend automaticallyAnswer yourself when
What size ring do I need? The RINGSIZE guide and chartThey are between sizes or have wide knuckles and want advice
Is it real gold? The MATERIAL page with exact metals and plating detailsThey ask about a hallmark or certification you have not published

Tip: Do not let the auto-reply guess about materials. State what each piece is made of in the information you provide, and say what you do not know, so no answer ever promises more than your product is.

Posts that make people comment a word

  • A close-up Reel of a ring on a hand next to a ruler or coin, with RINGSIZE for the sizer. Viewers use the shot to judge scale.
  • A tour of one necklace at three lengths on the same neck, with LENGTH for the chart.
  • The making of a custom piece from sketch to finish, with CUSTOM for how to order, shared with the buyer's permission.
  • A gift-guide carousel by price, with GIFT in the caption a few weeks before each gifting date.
  • A skin-test story: wear a plated piece for a week and show it honestly, with CARE for the guide.
  • A stacking Reel with STACK for the pieces and prices.

Jewellery sales rise before Valentine's Day, Mother's Day, Diwali and Christmas, and through wedding season. Work back from the last safe delivery date and set up each word with the deadline written into the first message.

Handling custom orders and big enquiries

  1. Someone sends CUSTOM and answers the first message with their idea and date. You see it in your inbox with that context.
  2. The card explains the process, the price range and the deposit, so the first human reply can go straight to the design.
  3. Move the details to email or a call. Collect an email in the follow-up so the thread does not depend on Instagram's 24-hour window.
  4. Confirm the design in writing before any work starts, and keep the approval where you can find it.

From India, the DMFast store can sell digital items, such as a styling ebook, and take bookings for paid or free consultations through Razorpay. A physical ring needs your own checkout, and the card can link to it.

Claims and rules for selling jewellery

  • Many countries regulate how precious metals may be described. Terms such as “solid gold”, “gold plated”, “vermeil” and “sterling” have specific meanings, so check the rules where you sell.
  • Some countries, the UK among them, require precious-metal items above a small weight to be hallmarked. Check what applies before you promise a hallmark in a reply.
  • Say plainly what a stone is. Lab-grown, simulated and natural stones have different value, and most countries expect honest labelling.
  • Do not make health claims for gemstones, such as calming or healing effects.
  • Meta allows one private reply per comment, within 7 days of it. Instagram's limit is 750 private replies an hour, and DMFast stays below 700.
  • Pick distinctive words. A word like RING is too common in comments and will fire on stray chat, whereas RINGSIZE rarely will.

Questions people ask

Can the first DM send my printable ring sizer?

Not as a first message to a commenter. Meta allows no links or attachments there, so the first DM asks a short question and the sizer follows after they answer. If someone messages you first or replies to a Story, the card can come right away.

Can it connect to my store and show what's in stock?

No, DMFast does not connect to shop platforms. It sends your text and the link you set, so link to a page that updates. You can also use a product carousel, which shows items you choose, to feature particular pieces.

Will it work for a one-person jewellery studio?

Yes, and it suits solo makers well. Work at the bench means slow replies, and the common questions about size, metal and care are answered at once. Custom enquiries still land in your inbox for you to answer personally.

Does it work on Facebook too?

On Facebook Pages, yes, through Messenger. Comment-to-DM and keyword replies work there, but Story replies and the follow gate are Instagram-only. A personal Instagram profile cannot use it, so switch to a Creator or Business account.

Someone comments RINGSIZE on an old post. Will it still reply?

Only within 7 days of that comment, the window Meta allows for a private reply. On paid plans, DMFast can go back over recent unanswered comments inside that window. Anything older cannot be answered by DM.
