AI assistant
AI replies to DMs and comments, goals, intent triggers and receipts.
On Growth and Business, the AI assistant answers what your auto-replies don't: DMs, comments, and comments or messages that mean something rather than use a word. It only says what you've told it about your business, and every action is listed with why.
Set it up
- 1Open AI assistant and fill in About your business: prices, shipping, hours, links and common questions. The AI never makes up a price or a promise that isn't there.
- 2Pick a tone and a goal (below), then try it in the test chat. Each test message uses one credit; nothing is sent on Instagram.
- 3Turn on Let AI answer DMs, and Let AI reply to comments if you want public replies too.

Comment replies are public, so the AI skips comments that don't need one (praise, emoji, tags) and anything it isn't sure about. Skipped comments cost nothing.
Goals
A goal steers DM chats somewhere useful, without pushing on every message. Just answer (the default) only answers questions.
- Collect their email: asks for one when it fits. Emails people send are saved in Emails with “AI assistant” as the source.
- Send them to a link, or Get them to book a call: works your link, or a call from your store, into the chat when someone is interested.
- Get a follow: invites people to follow when it's natural.
Receipts
AI receipts, on the AI assistant page, lists everything the AI did or decided not to do: the message or comment, its reply, the credits used, and for skips the reason. Filter by kind, and see 30-day totals at the top.
Credits
- A DM reply, a comment reply, an intent match and a test message each use one credit. Checks that match nothing, and skipped comments, are free.
- Growth includes 1,000 credits a month and Business 2,500; they reset each billing period. Packs of 500 for $5 never expire.
- With no credits left, the AI pauses; your auto-replies keep working.
