Chatfuel is a chatbot builder for WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook and website chat, with no free plan: after a free trial it costs $20 a month, or $18 a month billed yearly. Our verdict

Pick Chatfuel if customers reach you on WhatsApp or your website as well as Instagram, or if every lead has to land in HubSpot or Salesforce: DMFast does neither. Pick DMFast if people find you through Instagram and Facebook and you want comment-to-DM, Story replies, email capture and a bio page, starting on a free plan rather than a trial.

Strengths and limits

DMFastOurs

Best for: Creators and small businesses that want Instagram and Facebook comments and DMs answered automatically, starting on a free plan.

Strengths

  • Sends a DM when someone comments a keyword on a post or Reel, and replies to Story replies, mentions and DM keywords.
  • Skips link and promo-spam comments, and answers each person once a day per auto-reply.
  • Collects emails in the chat with CSV export, and includes a link-in-bio page and tracked links.
  • Works from ChatGPT and Claude through its MCP server.
  • A free plan with no time limit, and paid plans from $9 a month.

Limits

  • Works only with Instagram professional accounts and Facebook Pages: no WhatsApp, TikTok, Threads or personal Instagram accounts.
  • The Store, for digital products, lead magnets and bookings, is India only, with payments through Razorpay.
  • AI replies need the Growth or Business plan and use 1 credit per reply.

Chatfuel

Best for: Businesses that sell through WhatsApp as well as Instagram and Facebook, and want AI that qualifies leads and hands them to a CRM.

Strengths

  • Covers WhatsApp and website chat as well as Instagram and Facebook, and its pricing page lists bulk WhatsApp campaigns. DMFast does not work with WhatsApp.
  • Its AI is designed to qualify leads on its own, and the home page lists native connections to CRMs including HubSpot and Salesforce, plus Zapier.
  • On Instagram, keyword replies take care of repeat questions, and flows can collect emails or other contact details from ads and DMs.
  • The pricing page lists automatic replies to post and Reels comments, selling products and services in the chat, and sending WhatsApp conversions to Meta Pixel.

Limits

  • No free plan: after the free trial, the lowest listed price is US$20 a month, or US$18 a month billed yearly.
  • AI replies draw on a monthly credit allowance: US$20 of AI credits on Business and US$100 on Agency S.

Which channels each one covers

This is the deciding difference. Chatfuel treats Instagram as one channel of four, alongside Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp and chat on your own website, and its Business plan lists bulk WhatsApp campaigns and syncing WhatsApp with your CRM. DMFast works only with Instagram professional accounts and Facebook Pages, with no WhatsApp, TikTok or Threads support.

Story replies and mentionsInstagram onlyYes, on Instagram

On Instagram itself the two overlap more than the table suggests. Chatfuel’s Instagram page lists automations for post comments, Stories, mentions, DMs and ads, and its pricing page lists replies to post and Reels comments. DMFast covers comments on posts and Reels, Story replies and mentions, and keywords in DMs. Whichever you pick, the Instagram account has to be a Business or Creator account, because Meta opens its messaging API only to those.

What you pay, checked on 6 October 2026

Chatfuel has no free plan. You start with a free trial, which its pricing page says needs no credit card, then pay $20 a month for Business, or $216 a year. Agency S is sold yearly at $1,080 (shown as $90 a month) and covers three companies, with an agency dashboard and a dedicated account manager. DMFast has a free plan with no time limit, then Pro at $9, Growth at $14 and Business at $29 a month. All prices here are in US dollars.

  • AI is metered differently. Chatfuel gives Business $20 of AI credits a month and Agency S $100, and the pricing page itself doesn’t say how many replies that covers. On DMFast one AI reply uses one credit, so Growth’s 1,000 monthly credits mean 1,000 AI replies.
  • Volume: Chatfuel’s pricing page notes that usage limits apply to its plans, so check them against your monthly conversations before paying for a year. DMFast’s free plan covers 100 people a month, counting each person once, and its paid plans have no people limit.
  • Agencies: Agency S is built for running several companies from one dashboard. DMFast Business covers 10 accounts and 5 team seats for $29 a month.

Tip: Before paying for either, run the same test on both: a Reel with a comment keyword, a reply to one of your Stories and a price question by DM. Compare what actually arrives in the chat, not the feature lists.

Building an automation in each

Chatfuel: templates and a flow builder

Chatfuel is a builder. Its Instagram page offers ready-made templates to get a first bot running “in minutes”, then a drag-and-drop editor for FAQ answers, lead generation, discounts or any other flow you want to draw. That freedom suits branching conversations, such as asking a lead’s budget before passing them on. Chatfuel also lists live chat, so a person can step in, and AI that qualifies and scores leads.

DMFast: a trigger and what follows

DMFast’s set-up is a single form rather than a canvas. For comment-to-DM you choose a post or Reel and a word such as GUIDE, write the public reply that appears under the comment, then the first DM. That first message is plain text and asks the person to reply; once they do, the link card, buttons or a product carousel follows. A keyword in a DM (PRICE, HOURS), a Story reply or a mention can start a conversation the same way.

Extras are switches on the same form rather than new flows: ask for an email before the link goes out, or, on Pro, send the link only to followers and add one reminder for anyone who stops halfway.

Where your leads end up

Chatfuel is designed to hand leads to a sales system. Its home page lists native connections to CRMs including HubSpot and Salesforce, plus Zapier, and Business can send WhatsApp conversions to Meta Pixel. If a sales team works every lead from a CRM, that matters more than any row in the feature table.

DMFast keeps leads in a simpler shape. It can ask for an email in the chat before sending the link, rejects throwaway addresses, and lets you download every address as a CSV for your email tool. There is no direct CRM connection, so a CRM-led team would be adding a manual import.

Both can sell, in different places. Chatfuel’s Business plan lists selling products and services in the chat and booking meetings. DMFast’s Store sells digital products, lead magnets and 1-on-1 bookings from the bio page and DMs, takes no fee on sales, and works in India only, with payments through Razorpay.

Rules that bind both tools

Some limits come from Meta, not from either company. On Instagram and Messenger, a business can send one private reply per comment, within 7 days of the comment, and can message someone only within 24 hours of their last message. Meta’s human agent tag stretches that to 7 days for support from real people, and it isn’t meant for marketing.

  • Neither tool can DM all your Instagram followers at once: Meta’s official tools don’t allow mass DMs to followers. Chatfuel’s bulk campaigns are a WhatsApp feature.
  • If you move from one tool to the other, comments older than 7 days can’t get a private reply from either, so switch between launches rather than in the middle of one.

Questions people ask

Does Chatfuel have a free plan?

No. At the time of writing Chatfuel offers a free trial, and its pricing page says no credit card is needed. After that the cheapest plan is Business at $20 a month, or $18 a month billed yearly. DMFast has a free plan with no time limit, for one account and 100 people a month.

Can DMFast answer WhatsApp messages?

No. DMFast works only with Instagram Business and Creator accounts and Facebook Pages. It doesn’t support WhatsApp, TikTok, Threads or personal Instagram accounts, so if your customers write to you on WhatsApp, Chatfuel is the one of these two to look at.

Do both send a DM when someone comments on a Reel?

Yes. Chatfuel lists replies to post and Reels comments on its Business plan. DMFast includes comment-to-DM on every plan, Free included: the person comments your word, gets a public reply under the comment and a private message that leads to your link.

How do the AI features differ?

Chatfuel’s AI is aimed at qualifying and scoring leads, paid for from a monthly allowance in dollars. DMFast’s AI replies answer customer questions using only the business details you enter, on Growth and Business. If DMFast’s credits run out, its keyword auto-replies keep working and only the AI answers pause.
