DMFast vs Gumroad
Gumroad sells your digital products and keeps a share of each sale: 10% plus $0.50 on a direct sale, with no monthly fee. DMFast replies by DM to anyone who comments a keyword on Instagram or Facebook and then sends your link, and its own store, for sellers in India, takes no fee. You can sell with either, or put DMFast in front of a Gumroad shop.
DMFast publishes this page and is one of the two products compared. Facts about Gumroad come from its own pages, read on 6 October 2026.

Our verdict
Gumroad is the better fit if you sell from outside India, want sales tax handled for you, or need memberships, licence keys or a marketplace that can find you buyers. DMFast suits sellers in India who want sales to start from a comment or DM, with no fee taken on each sale. Already selling on Gumroad? DMFast can deliver your Gumroad links by DM.
Strengths and limits
DMFastOurs
Best for: Creators and small businesses that want Instagram and Facebook comments and DMs answered automatically, starting on a free plan.
Strengths
- Sends a DM when someone comments a keyword on a post or Reel, and replies to Story replies, mentions and DM keywords.
- Skips link and promo-spam comments, and answers each person once a day per auto-reply.
- Collects emails in the chat with CSV export, and includes a link-in-bio page and tracked links.
- Works from ChatGPT and Claude through its MCP server.
- A free plan with no time limit, and paid plans from $9 a month.
Limits
- Works only with Instagram professional accounts and Facebook Pages: no WhatsApp, TikTok, Threads or personal Instagram accounts.
- The Store, for digital products, lead magnets and bookings, is India only, with payments through Razorpay.
- AI replies need the Growth or Business plan and use 1 credit per reply.
Gumroad
Best for: Creators who sell eBooks, courses, software or memberships to buyers in many countries, and would rather give up a share of each sale than pay a monthly fee.
Strengths
- Sells downloads, eBooks, courses and memberships, with subscriptions billed monthly, quarterly, twice a year or yearly, and pay-what-you-want prices.
- Since January 1, 2025 Gumroad handles sales tax collection and remittance worldwide, so sellers don’t set up tax themselves.
- Has its own audience tools: posts, email broadcasts, automated workflows, a Follow button to embed on your site, and import and export of your list.
- Covers software and file sellers with license keys, lightweight DRM, PDF, ePub and Mobi files and lossless audio, plus affiliates, discounts and analytics.
- Its Discover marketplace can bring in new buyers, and the storefront you build in its page editor can use your colours and a custom domain.
Limits
- Every sale is charged: 10% + $0.50 per transaction on direct sales, and 30% when the buyer arrives through Discover.
- Neither its features page nor its pricing page mentions replying to Instagram or Facebook comments or DMs.
- Payouts come by direct deposit or PayPal, and which of the two you get depends on your country.

A shop and a reply tool
Gumroad and DMFast meet at the moment of sale but come at it from opposite sides. Gumroad is the shop: product pages, checkout, files, tax, payouts and its own tools for reaching an audience. DMFast is the conversation that leads to a shop: someone comments EBOOK under your Reel, gets a public reply and a DM, and receives the link once they answer it. DMFast also has a small store of its own, but only for sellers in India.
A note on bias: DMFast publishes this page. Gumroad’s side is taken from its pricing and features pages as they stood on 6 October 2026.
What each one keeps from a sale
Gumroad charges no monthly fee. At the time of writing it keeps 10% plus $0.50 of every sale made through your profile or a direct link, and 30% when a new customer finds you through its Discover marketplace. At three example prices, that works out as follows.
| Product price | Gumroad fee, direct sale | Gumroad fee, via Discover |
|---|---|---|
| $5 | $1.00 | $1.50 |
| $20 | $2.50 | $6.00 |
| $100 | $10.50 | $30.00 |
The flat $0.50 weighs most on cheap products. On a $5 sale the fee is $1, a fifth of the price; on a $100 sale it is $10.50, just over a tenth.
DMFast takes nothing from store sales. Razorpay, which processes the payment, deducts its own fee before the rest is paid into your bank account. What you pay DMFast is the plan, from $0 to $29 a month, and that covers the replies rather than the selling: the store itself works on every plan, Free included.
Where you can sell, and what
Gumroad is built for selling across borders. It says that since 1 January 2025 it collects and remits sales tax worldwide for its sellers, and it pays out by direct deposit or PayPal, depending on your country.
DMFast’s store is the opposite: it serves sellers in India only. To get paid you enter your PAN and Indian bank details, which Razorpay verifies, usually within a day, and buyers then pay in rupees at a Razorpay checkout. Each buyer gets a private link to what they bought.
- Gumroad sells downloads, ebooks, courses and memberships, with subscriptions billed monthly, quarterly, twice a year or yearly, and pay-what-you-want prices.
- For software and media, Gumroad adds licence keys, lightweight DRM, PDF, ePub and Mobi files, and lossless audio, plus affiliates, discounts and analytics.
- DMFast’s store sells a digital product delivered as a file or a link, a free lead magnet in exchange for an email (and a phone number if you ask), and 1-on-1 bookings, paid or free.
From an Instagram comment to a checkout
Gumroad’s features and pricing pages don’t mention replying to Instagram or Facebook comments or DMs. Its own reach tools are posts, email broadcasts, automated workflows, a Follow button for your website, and the Discover marketplace. Getting someone from a Reel to a Gumroad page is left to you, and that is the gap DMFast fills. One way to set it up for a photographer selling a preset pack:
- The Reel’s caption says: “Comment PRESETS and I’ll DM you the pack.”
- DMFast replies under each comment and sends a plain-text DM, for example “Want the preset pack? Reply SEND and it’s yours.” The first message to a commenter can’t carry a link or a button.
- Once they reply, a card with a button follows: your Gumroad product link or, in India, a product from DMFast’s own store.
- With email capture turned on, DMFast asks for an email first, turns away throwaway addresses, and lets you export the list as a CSV.
Tip: Give each product its own comment word and its own tracked link, so you can see which post sends the clicks.
Questions people ask
Does Gumroad have an Instagram auto-DM feature?
Not according to its own pages. Gumroad’s features and pricing pages describe posts, email broadcasts, workflows and the Discover marketplace, but nothing that answers Instagram or Facebook comments or DMs. A comment-to-DM tool such as DMFast can send people your Gumroad links instead.
Which one takes less from each sale?
DMFast takes no fee on store sales, though Razorpay’s payment fee still comes off. Gumroad keeps 10% plus $0.50 on direct sales and 30% on Discover sales. The comparison only holds in India, the one place DMFast’s store works, and Gumroad’s fee comes with tax handling and a marketplace.
Can I sell outside India with DMFast?
Not through DMFast’s store, which only works in India. You can still use DMFast’s comment-to-DM to send people a Gumroad product link, and Gumroad handles the payment.
Is there a monthly fee for either?
Gumroad has none; it takes a share of each sale instead. DMFast has a free plan for 1 account and 100 people a month, and paid plans from $9 a month lift the people cap, add accounts and bring extras such as reminders and scheduled DMs.
Should I move my products from Gumroad to DMFast’s store?
Only if you sell in India and most buyers reach you through Instagram or Facebook. You would swap Gumroad’s 10% plus $0.50 for Razorpay’s payment fee, but give up Gumroad’s tax handling, Discover, memberships and licence keys. You can also keep Gumroad for the catalogue and use DMFast only for the conversation.
