Comparison · DM automation

DMFast vs Manychat

Manychat and DMFast both send an Instagram DM when someone comments a keyword. Manychat is the wider tool: it also reaches TikTok, WhatsApp, Telegram, SMS and email, and it sizes plans by active contacts, from 25 on Free. DMFast works only with Instagram and Facebook, and its free plan covers 100 people a month.

DMFast publishes this page and is one of the two products compared. Facts about Manychat come from its own pages, read on 6 October 2026.

Our verdict

Manychat is the better pick if customers also write to you on WhatsApp, TikTok, Telegram, SMS or email, or if you want leads tagged and passed to tools such as Klaviyo and Mailchimp. DMFast fits if Instagram and Facebook are your only channels and you want no cap on people from a $9 Pro plan, or a free plan that covers 100 people a month.

Strengths and limits

DMFastOurs

Best for: Creators and small businesses that want Instagram and Facebook comments and DMs answered automatically, starting on a free plan.

Strengths

  • Sends a DM when someone comments a keyword on a post or Reel, and replies to Story replies, mentions and DM keywords.
  • Skips link and promo-spam comments, and answers each person once a day per auto-reply.
  • Collects emails in the chat with CSV export, and includes a link-in-bio page and tracked links.
  • Works from ChatGPT and Claude through its MCP server.
  • A free plan with no time limit, and paid plans from $9 a month.

Limits

  • Works only with Instagram professional accounts and Facebook Pages: no WhatsApp, TikTok, Threads or personal Instagram accounts.
  • The Store, for digital products, lead magnets and bookings, is India only, with payments through Razorpay.
  • AI replies need the Growth or Business plan and use 1 credit per reply.

Manychat

Best for: Creators, shops and agencies that want comment-to-DM and lead capture on Instagram and also message people on WhatsApp, TikTok, Messenger or Telegram from one tool.

Strengths

  • One account reaches Instagram, TikTok, Facebook Messenger, Telegram, WhatsApp, SMS and email. DMFast works only with Instagram and Facebook.
  • Comment automations can post a public reply, rotate several wordings of it, and then send a private DM, using keyword include and exclude lists.
  • The free plan starts from 60+ ready-made templates for replying to comments, greeting new followers and sending links in DMs.
  • Pro and above add Manychat AI, which you teach about your business and tone of voice so it can answer FAQs in DMs and reply to positive comments.
  • Leads can be tagged and sent to tools such as Klaviyo and Mailchimp, and Live Chat lets a person take over from the automation.

Limits

  • Every plan caps active contacts each month: 25 on Free, 250 on Essential, 2,500 on Pro, 7,500 on Business and 25,000 on Advanced. Extra contacts are charged.
  • WhatsApp, SMS and email channels, Broadcasts and AI conversations all start on Pro; Free and Essential connect 2 channels from Instagram, TikTok, Messenger or Telegram.
  • On Free, “Powered by Manychat” appears on the first message to a contact, and live triggers stop at 4.
  • Its help page says the comments trigger runs only on a person’s first comment under a post, which it describes as a limit on Instagram’s side.
  • The pricing page text shows annual-billing prices only, excludes tax, and says the final price depends on your billing country.

Seven channels against two

Start with where your customers write to you, because that is the widest gap. Manychat lists Instagram, TikTok, Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp, Telegram, SMS and email as channels it connects. DMFast handles two: Instagram professional accounts (Business and Creator) and Facebook Pages. It does not work with WhatsApp, TikTok, Threads or personal Instagram accounts.

ChannelDMFastManychat
InstagramBusiness and Creator accountsYes, within the plan’s channel limit
FacebookPages: comments and MessengerMessenger, on every plan
TikTokNoYes, within the plan’s channel limit
TelegramNoYes, within the plan’s channel limit
WhatsAppNoFrom the Pro plan
SMSNoFrom the Pro plan
EmailNoFrom the Pro plan

The number of channels is itself a plan limit. Manychat’s Free and Essential plans connect 2, Pro connects 3, and Business and Advanced set no limit. Instagram plus Messenger fits inside the first two. Adding WhatsApp means stepping up to Pro, at $29 a month billed annually. If your customers only ever reach you on Instagram and a Facebook Page, the extra channels would sit unused.

What each costs, and how usage is counted

DMFast makes one of these two products, so check the Manychat figures yourself: we read them on 6 October 2026. At the time of writing, Manychat’s pricing page text shows annual-billing prices only, leaves out tax and says the final price depends on your billing country. Monthly-billing prices are not in that text, but the page marks the annual saving at 18% on Essential, 25% on Pro and 30% on Business and Advanced, so paying month to month costs more than the figures below. Essential and Pro start with a 14-day free trial.

LevelDMFastManychat, billed annually
Free$0: 1 account, 100 people a month, 10 emails, 10 look-ups$0: 25 active contacts, 2 channels, up to 4 live triggers, 1 user, no card
First paid planPro, $9 a month: 3 accounts, unlimited people and emailsEssential, $14 a month ($168 a year): 250 active contacts, 2 channels, unlimited automations, 2 users, no branding
With AI repliesGrowth, $14 a month: Pro plus AI replies and 1,000 credits a monthPro, $29 a month ($348 a year): 2,500 active contacts, 3 channels, Broadcasts, Manychat AI, 3 users
For teamsBusiness, $29 a month: 10 accounts, 5 seats, 2,500 creditsBusiness, $69 a month ($828 a year): 7,500 contacts, unlimited channels, 5 users, shared inbox with 3 seats. Advanced, $139 a month ($1,668 a year): 25,000 contacts, 10 users, 5 inbox seats

The two count usage differently, so size each plan against your own numbers. Manychat caps active contacts on every plan, and on Free it puts “Powered by Manychat” on a contact’s first message until you move to Essential, which removes the branding. DMFast’s Free plan covers 100 people a month; from Pro there is no limit on people, and Pro also removes the DMFast badge.

Going over Manychat’s contact limit

Contacts over a plan’s limit are charged one by one. These are the rates in the pricing text we read, per extra contact:

PlanContacts includedAnnual billingMonthly billing
Essential250$0.082$0.10
Pro2,500$0.038$0.05
Business7,500$0.018$0.025
Advanced25,000$0.0028$0.004

By those rates, 500 contacts over Pro’s 2,500 would add $19 at the annual rate or $25 at the monthly one, on top of the plan price. Check Manychat’s own pages for how it defines an active contact and how often the extra charge applies.

Building a comment-to-DM automation in each

In Manychat

A Manychat comment automation can post a public reply, rotate several wordings of it, then send a private DM. It can fire on a keyword or on any comment, for one post, all posts or the next one you publish, and keyword include and exclude lists narrow what counts. A toggle in the same automation collects emails and phone numbers in the chat. The free plan starts you from 60+ ready-made templates for replying to comments, greeting new followers and sending links in DMs.

One rule is worth knowing before you plan a promotion. Manychat’s help page says the comments trigger runs only on a person’s first comment under a post, and it describes that as a limit on Instagram’s side. So someone whose first comment isn’t your keyword may get no DM when they add it in a second comment.

In DMFast

You pick a post or Reel and a comment word, such as GUIDE. DMFast replies under the comment and sends a private message. That first message is plain text and asks the person to answer, for example “Want the guide? Reply YES.” Instagram and Messenger allow no links or buttons in it. Once they reply, a link card, buttons or a product carousel can follow.

DMFast has its own repeat rule: it answers each person once a day per auto-reply, and it skips link and promo-spam comments. Pro adds sending only to followers (Instagram only), one reminder for anyone who stops halfway, scheduled DMs and replies to older comments.

Tip: Both tools reply in public and then in private, so Meta’s limit of one private reply per comment applies to each. If you test the two on the same Reel, switch one off first or they will compete for that reply.

AI replies, team seats and where leads go

Both put AI on a paid plan. Manychat AI starts on Pro, at $29 a month billed annually: you teach it about your business and your tone of voice, and it answers FAQs in DMs and replies to positive comments. DMFast’s AI replies start on Growth, at $14 a month. They are written only from the business information you provide, and each reply uses one credit, with 1,000 credits a month on Growth and 2,500 on Business. 500 extra credits cost $5.

Tip: Check how each one meters AI before you compare them. DMFast’s unit is one credit per reply. Manychat’s pricing page lists AI conversations from Pro, so ask what a plan includes before you set the two side by side.

For teams, Manychat offers Live Chat, so a person can take over from the automation, and a shared inbox: 3 seats on Business and 5 on Advanced, with priority support on both. DMFast’s Business plan covers 10 accounts and 5 seats, which suits an agency running several client accounts.

For leads, Manychat tags contacts and can send them on to tools such as Klaviyo and Mailchimp. DMFast’s email capture asks for an address in the chat, turns away throwaway ones and exports the list as a CSV for whichever email tool you use.

DMFast has a few other things to weigh: a link-in-bio page, tracked links, Research on any public Instagram account, and an MCP server for using it from ChatGPT or Claude. In India it also has a store for digital products, lead magnets and 1-on-1 bookings, with no DMFast fee on sales. The feature table above marks what we could not confirm for Manychat.

Rules that apply to both, and switching

Meta sets these limits, not either company, and they bind every tool that sends DMs through its API:

  • A comment can receive one private reply, sent within 7 days of the comment. Comments made during an Instagram Live can only be answered while the Live is running.
  • After that, a business can message someone only within 24 hours of their last message. The human agent tag stretches that to 7 days for support by real people, and it is not for marketing.
  • Instagram allows at most 750 private replies to comments per hour per account. DMFast stays under 700.
  • Only Business and Creator accounts can use the messaging API, and official tools cannot mass-DM your followers.

Plan a move between tools for a quiet week. Comments older than 7 days can no longer receive a private reply from either one, so a Reel that is still collecting keywords is better left on the tool that started it.

Questions people ask

Does Manychat have a free plan?

Yes. At the time of writing its Free plan allows 25 active contacts, 2 channels, up to 4 live triggers and 1 user, with no card needed, and “Powered by Manychat” appears on a contact’s first message. DMFast’s Free plan covers 1 account, 100 people a month, 10 emails and 10 look-ups.

Can DMFast message people on WhatsApp or TikTok?

No. DMFast works only with Instagram professional accounts and Facebook Pages, so WhatsApp, TikTok, Threads and personal Instagram accounts are out. Manychat connects TikTok and Telegram within every plan’s channel limit, and adds WhatsApp, SMS and email from its Pro plan.

What does Manychat charge for contacts over the limit?

A fee per extra contact, set by the plan: $0.082 on Essential, $0.038 on Pro, $0.018 on Business and $0.0028 on Advanced with annual billing, or $0.10, $0.05, $0.025 and $0.004 with monthly billing. These were the rates on 6 October 2026, so confirm them on Manychat’s pricing page.

Will Manychat answer a second comment from the same person?

Its help page says the comments trigger runs only on a person’s first comment under a post, and it describes that as a limit on Instagram’s side. DMFast has a different repeat rule: it answers each person once a day per auto-reply, and it skips link and promo-spam comments.

Which one suits an agency or a small team?

Manychat’s Business plan has 5 users and a shared inbox with 3 seats, and Advanced has 10 users and 5 inbox seats. We did not find how many Instagram accounts each plan connects, so ask before buying for several clients. DMFast’s Business plan covers 10 accounts and 5 seats.

Who made this comparison, and when was Manychat checked?

DMFast made it, and DMFast is one of the two products, so read it with that in mind. The Manychat details come from its pricing page, Instagram page, help centre and blog, read on 6 October 2026. Manychat’s prices change, so confirm them on its pricing page before you pay.
