Alternatives to Chatfuel

If WhatsApp still matters, SendPulse is the closest swap for Chatfuel. If a whole team answers customer chats, look at respond.io. If you only need Instagram, Inro and DMFast both have free plans, which Chatfuel does not, and DMFast adds Facebook Pages. We make DMFast, so it is on the list, marked as ours.

DMFast publishes this page and is one of the options on it, labelled as ours. Facts about the other products come from their own websites, checked on 6 October 2026.

Why people look beyond Chatfuel

  • Chatfuel has no free plan. Once the trial ends, Business costs $20 a month, or $18 a month billed yearly ($216), at the time of writing, however few messages you send.
  • A good share of the Business plan is about WhatsApp: bulk WhatsApp campaigns, booking meetings in WhatsApp, WhatsApp CRM sync and reporting WhatsApp conversions to Meta Pixel. An Instagram-only account pays for all of it.
  • AI replies run on an allowance, $20 of AI credits a month on Business. Chatfuel's limits page says that when it runs out, the AI assistant stops replying until the limit resets, unless you renew early or add your own OpenAI key.
  • It is built for multi-step sales flows with lead scoring and CRM hand-offs. If the whole job is “comment GUIDE, get the guide”, much of what you pay for sits unused.
  • Agency S, the plan for handling several clients, is shown billed yearly: $1,080 a year, or $90 a month, for 3 companies.

Alternatives to consider

DMFast, ours, comes first. The others are listed best fit first.

  1. DMFast

    OursDM automation

Comment-to-DM and DM keywords on Instagram and Facebook, Story replies on Instagram, and email capture. Free plan to start, paid plans from $9 a month.

Limits: Works only with Instagram professional accounts and Facebook Pages: no WhatsApp, TikTok, Threads or personal Instagram accounts.

  2. SendPulse chatbots

    Chatbot platform

The closest swap if WhatsApp stays in the picture. One no-code builder covers Instagram, Messenger, WhatsApp, Telegram, Viber, TikTok and live chat, and the free plan allows up to 500 subscribers and 10,000 messages a month.

Best for: Businesses that run bots on several messaging apps at once and want comment replies, a follower check and in-chat payments from one no-code builder.

  3. respond.io

    Chatbot platform

Built for support and sales teams rather than solo creators: WhatsApp, TikTok, Instagram and Facebook chats share one inbox, with AI Agents from the Growth plan. There is no free plan; Starter is $948 a year, equal to $79 a month.

Best for: Support and sales teams that field customer messages on WhatsApp, TikTok, Instagram and Facebook and want AI agents, routing and CRM updates in one place.

  4. Inro

    DM automation

For Instagram-only accounts that want an AI agent: Inro's is trained on your site, offers and price list, and its free plan covers 100 active contacts a month. Pro starts at €12.99 a month.

Best for: Instagram creators and brands who want comment-to-DM and Story automations plus an AI agent that replies in their voice and gathers lead details.

What Chatfuel does well, and its limits

Chatfuel

Best for: Businesses that sell through WhatsApp as well as Instagram and Facebook, and want AI that qualifies leads and hands them to a CRM.

Strengths

  • Covers WhatsApp and website chat as well as Instagram and Facebook, and its pricing page lists bulk WhatsApp campaigns. DMFast does not work with WhatsApp.
  • Its AI is designed to qualify leads on its own, and the home page lists native connections to CRMs including HubSpot and Salesforce, plus Zapier.
  • On Instagram, keyword replies take care of repeat questions, and flows can collect emails or other contact details from ads and DMs.
  • The pricing page lists automatic replies to post and Reels comments, selling products and services in the chat, and sending WhatsApp conversions to Meta Pixel.

Limits

  • No free plan: after the free trial, the lowest listed price is US$20 a month, or US$18 a month billed yearly.
  • AI replies draw on a monthly credit allowance: US$20 of AI credits on Business and US$100 on Agency S.

When to stay with Chatfuel

Stay if WhatsApp is where people buy from you. Chatfuel's Business plan sends bulk WhatsApp campaigns, books meetings inside WhatsApp and syncs those chats with your CRM. DMFast does none of that, and it has no website chat either.

  • Leads go straight into HubSpot or Salesforce. Chatfuel lists native connections to both, plus Zapier; DMFast has no CRM sync, and collected emails download as a CSV file.
  • You advertise on Meta and want WhatsApp sales reported to Meta Pixel, which the Business plan lists.
  • You want the bot to qualify and score leads on its own before a person steps in.
  • You sell products and services in the chat, which the Business plan lists, and your business is outside India. DMFast can show a product carousel in DMs, but its Store, which takes the payment, works only in India, through Razorpay.
  • Your volume is high but your AI use is light. Chatfuel's limits page says plans include unlimited active contacts and messages, and the fair-use cap applies to AI processing.

When DMFast fits instead

DMFast is narrower than Chatfuel on purpose. It answers comments and DMs on Instagram professional accounts and Facebook Pages, and nothing else: no WhatsApp, no TikTok, no website widget. Within those two apps it covers the everyday jobs. Someone comments GUIDE under a Reel and gets a public reply plus a private message, Story replies and mentions get an answer on Instagram, and a DM that says PRICE or HOURS gets an instant reply.

  • A free plan with no time limit: 1 account and 100 people a month.
  • Pro, at $9 a month, adds “Only send to followers” on Instagram, one reminder for people who stop halfway, scheduled DMs, and replies to comments left before the automation started (within Meta's 7-day limit).
  • AI replies come with Growth, $14 a month with 1,000 credits at one credit per reply, and are written only from the business details you give it.
  • Spam is filtered out: link and promo comments are ignored, and each person gets one answer a day per auto-reply.
  • An MCP server lets you work with DMFast from ChatGPT or Claude.

How to switch from Chatfuel

  1. List every Instagram and Facebook flow you run in Chatfuel: the trigger, the post it watches, each message in order and where the links point. DMFast has no importer, so this list is what you rebuild from.
  2. Save the emails, phone numbers and lead notes you collected, through your CRM sync or an export, before you cancel. DMFast starts with an empty list.
  3. Connect your Instagram professional account and Facebook Page to DMFast, then rebuild each flow as a comment trigger or a DM keyword.
  4. Write the first DM as plain text that asks for a reply, such as “Reply YES and I'll send the checklist”. Instagram and Messenger allow no links or buttons in that first message; the link card follows once they answer.
  5. Turn the Chatfuel flow off before the DMFast one goes on. Instagram allows a single private reply per comment, so two tools on the same post race for it, and both may post a public reply.
  6. Keep Chatfuel for WhatsApp if you still need it there, and move only the Instagram and Facebook work.

What Chatfuel and DMFast cost

Both price in US dollars. At the time of writing (checked on 6 October 2026), Chatfuel's Business plan is $20 billed monthly or $216 a year, with $20 of AI credits each month and a free trial that needs no card.

What you needChatfuelDMFast

When AI replies run out, the fixes differ. On DMFast's Growth and Business plans, 500 extra credits cost $5. On Chatfuel, the limits page offers renewing the plan early or plugging in your own OpenAI API key, which OpenAI then bills you for.

Questions people ask

Is there a free alternative to Chatfuel?

Yes. At the time of writing SendPulse, Inro and DMFast all have free plans, each with a monthly cap: up to 500 subscribers on SendPulse, 100 active contacts on Inro and 100 people on DMFast. Chatfuel offers a free trial rather than a free plan.

Does DMFast work with WhatsApp like Chatfuel?

No. DMFast works only with Instagram professional accounts and Facebook Pages. If you sell on WhatsApp, keep Chatfuel for that channel, or compare SendPulse and respond.io, which both cover WhatsApp.

Can I keep Chatfuel for WhatsApp and move Instagram elsewhere?

Yes. Switch off Chatfuel's Instagram flows, or disconnect Instagram there, so one comment or DM doesn't set off two tools. Your WhatsApp flows keep running in Chatfuel as before.

What happens to my Chatfuel contacts if I switch?

They stay in Chatfuel, so export what you need first. Instagram and Messenger only let a business message someone within 24 hours of that person's last message, so an old contact list is mostly useful for email, not for new DMs.

Does Chatfuel reply to Instagram comments?

Yes. Its pricing page lists automatic replies to post comments and Reels comments on the Business plan, and its Instagram page describes keyword replies and answers to questions that come in from Stories and mentions.
