Instagram bios for jewellery brands

A jewellery bio has to say what you make, what it is made from and how to buy, while sounding like the pieces look. These original bios suit handmade makers, small labels and shops, with a formula and tips on materials, sizing and gifting.

Write your own

A bio that works usually has the same few parts. Fill them in for yours, or start from the example.

  1. What you make
  2. Material or technique
  3. Where it is made or how long it takes
  4. How to buy or order

Tips for your bio

  1. Name your material only if you can stand behind it. 'Sterling silver' or 'gold-plated' are claims that buyers check, and 'gold-tone' or 'handmade in [material]' says what you mean without overreaching.

  2. Be careful with words such as 'hypoallergenic' or 'waterproof'. Skin reacts differently, and a vague promise leads to returns. Describe the metal or the care instead.

  3. Add a ring size or length line to a highlight. Sizing is the most common reason for questions on jewellery posts, so say 'size guide in highlights' in the bio.

  4. Give a make time for custom orders. 'Allow [x] days' sets expectations before the payment, and it stops a lot of 'where is my order?' messages.

  5. Post close-up videos of the piece being worn. Jewellery is small, and moving light on gems or metal tells buyers more than a flat photo.

  6. Plan your gifting dates. Add a last order date to the bio ahead of gift seasons, and delete it the day after.

Questions people ask

What should a jewellery brand put in its Instagram bio?

What you make, the material or technique, where it is made and how to buy. A line about custom orders or gifting helps if you offer them. Keep claims about metals and finishes accurate.

Should I mention materials in my jewellery bio?

Yes, if they are a selling point, but only exact ones. 'Sterling silver' means something specific, so use it only for pieces that are. Otherwise describe the style, such as 'gold-tone' or 'beaded'.

How do I get ring-size questions out of my DMs?

Put a size guide in a highlight and mention it in the bio. You can also offer 'Comment SIZE and I'll DM the guide', so the answer reaches people automatically.

Is a handmade jewellery bio different from a shop one?

Handmade bios can lean on the maker: where, how long and by whom. Shop bios lean on range, delivery and returns. If you do both, put the maker line first.

Can I put my market dates in the bio?

You can, but they go out of date quickly. A pinned post or a highlight called 'Find me' is easier to keep current, with a short 'Find me in [city]' line in the bio.
