Write your own

A bio that works usually has the same few parts. Fill them in for yours, or start from the example.

  1. A soft emoji to start
  2. Your name or nickname
  3. One small thing you love
  4. A sweet sign-off or a next step

Worked example

🌷 lina matcha, mini golf and handwritten letters come say hi, I reply with stickers 💌

Each part becomes a line of your bio. Nothing you type is uploaded.

Tips for your bio

  1. Pick one emoji theme and repeat it, such as strawberries and bows or clouds and moons. Use the same emoji on your highlight covers and the profile looks planned rather than random.

  2. Two or three emoji is plenty. Screen readers say each emoji's name out loud, so a row of ten becomes a long string of words for anyone listening.

  3. Lowercase looks soft in the bio, but keep your name field in plain letters. Fancy “font” letters are different characters, so people searching for your name may not find you.

  4. The pink heart 🩷 only arrived in 2022, so phones that haven't been updated can show an empty box instead. The older 💗 and 💕 display on almost any phone.

  5. Line breaks count toward the 150 characters. Keep each line to a few words so a three-line bio reads like a little list, not a squashed paragraph.

  6. If you sell something, cute and clear go together. Make the last line say exactly what to do: DM a word, tap the link or comment on a Reel.

Questions people ask

How do I make my Instagram bio cute?

Keep it short, add one or two soft emoji and include one small true detail, like a favorite snack, a pet or a hobby. Lowercase letters and a line break make it feel gentler. Cute bios work because they are relaxed, so skip anything that sounds like a résumé.

Which emoji look cutest in a bio?

Round, soft and pastel ones: 🌷 🍓 🧸 ☁️ 🎀 🐣 🍰 🌙 🫧 💌. Choose two or three that match your photos rather than using all of them at once.

Can a business use a cute bio?

Yes, when cute suits what you sell. Bakeries, handmade gifts, stationery, pet products and kids' brands often use a playful voice. Keep one line plain, saying what you sell and how to order, so the sweetness doesn't hide the offer.

How long can an Instagram bio be?

150 characters, and spaces, emoji and line breaks all count. Every bio on this page fits with room to spare, and the count beside each one shows its length.

How do I add a line break to my bio?

In the Instagram app, edit your profile, tap the bio and press return where you want a new line. If your keyboard shows no return key there, type the bio in your notes app with the breaks you want, then copy and paste it in.
