Aesthetic bios sorted by mood

An aesthetic Instagram bio is a few quiet words that match the look of your feed: lowercase, one or two text symbols like ✧ or ☾, and a mood instead of a list of facts. Below are original bios grouped by aesthetic, from soft and dreamy to dark academia, film and coastal, plus a formula and tips for keeping them readable.

Write your own

A bio that works usually has the same few parts. Fill them in for yours, or start from the example.

  1. A symbol or emoji to set the mood
  2. Your name or initial, lowercase
  3. Three things you love, picked for feel
  4. Optional: what you post or a next step

Worked example

☾ ivy rain, records and rooftop tomatoes film photos on sundays ✧

Tips for your bio

  1. Text symbols like ✧, ☾ and ⋆ are ordinary characters, not emoji, so they take the same color as your words. Next to a muted feed they look calmer than a row of bright emoji.

  2. Borrow the vocabulary of one aesthetic. Cottagecore sounds like bread, moss and jam jars; dark academia like ink, rain and margins; coastal like salt, tides and sea glass. Mixing all three in one bio reads as random.

  3. Match the words to your grid's colors. Warm, grainy photos suit honey, rust and golden hour; cool, faded ones suit fog, slate and silver. Then the bio reads like a caption for the whole profile.

  4. Leave space. A single line of four words can look more finished than three crowded lines, and it leaves room for your link and pinned posts to do the explaining.

  5. Keep anything people need to act on in capitals. A DM word written as “DM PRINTS” is easy to spot inside a lowercase bio; written in lowercase, it disappears into the mood.

  6. Check the symbols on your own screen after saving. Common ones like ✧, ☾ and ✿ show on almost every phone, but rarer decorative characters can appear as empty boxes on older devices.

Questions people ask

What makes an Instagram bio aesthetic?

It is written to match the look of your feed rather than to list facts. Most aesthetic bios are short and lowercase, use a text symbol or two, and pick words for their mood, like fog, film or wildflowers. The goal is a profile that feels like one picture.

How do I add symbols like ✧ and ☾ to my bio?

Copy them from this page and paste them into your bio when you edit your profile. They are standard Unicode characters, so no special keyboard or app is needed. If one shows up as an empty box after you save, swap it for a more common symbol.

Can I use a fancy font in an aesthetic bio?

For a word or two, yes. Font generators swap normal letters for look-alike characters, mostly from Unicode's math alphabets, so screen readers may read them strangely or skip them, and search may not match them to the real word. Keep your name and anything important in regular letters.

Which aesthetic should I choose?

The one your photos already have. Look at your last dozen posts: browns, books and candlelight point to dark academia; gardens and baking to cottagecore; pale blues and beaches to coastal; grain and soft focus to film. Write the bio in the same language as the pictures.

Can a business have an aesthetic bio?

Yes, as long as one line says plainly what you sell. Candle makers, florists, vintage sellers and wedding photographers often write in a soft, lowercase voice. Put the next step, such as a DM word or the link, on its own line so it doesn't get lost in the mood.
