Write your own

A bio that works usually has the same few parts. Fill them in for yours, or start from the example.

  1. What you play or your stream style
  2. When you go live
  3. One running joke or personality line
  4. Where to watch or how to reach you

Tips for your bio

  1. Put what you play, or the word 'streamer', in the name field next to your handle. Instagram search leans on that line, and it tells a new visitor what the profile is for before they read anything else.

  2. Always state the time zone. A stream at 8pm means something different to viewers in three countries, and 'times in [zone]' saves you a daily question in the comments.

  3. Keep one link in the bio and point it at where you go live. A page with five links makes people pick, and most will pick none of them.

  4. Pin your schedule as a post instead of cramming it into the bio. The bio then stays short and you change one image when your week changes.

  5. Post your best clips as Reels. Reels reach people who don't follow you yet, and a funny ten seconds sells a stream better than a bio can.

  6. Use the same handle on every platform you stream or post on. Viewers who find you on one will search for the same name on the others.

Questions people ask

What should a streamer put in their Instagram bio?

What you play, when you stream and where to watch. Add one line of personality, because viewers choose streamers for the company as much as the game. Keep the schedule short and put the full version in a pinned post.

Should I list my streaming schedule in my bio?

A short version works, such as 'Live Tue, Thu, Sat'. If your times change often, pin a post instead so you can update it without editing the bio each week. Always say which time zone the times are in.

Which link should I use in a streamer bio?

Use a single link to the place you go live, or to a page that lists your channels. Fewer choices mean more clicks. Check the link works on a phone, since most of your viewers will tap it there.

Can I use these bios if I stream part time?

Yes. Swap the schedule for something honest, such as 'Live when I can' or 'Weekend streams'. Viewers prefer a modest promise you keep to a daily one you miss.

How do I get stream viewers to remember the schedule?

Repeat it in one pinned post and in a highlight, and mention the next date at the end of each stream. A comment-to-DM reminder, such as 'Comment LIVE for the link', also puts the stream link in their messages.
