Instagram bios for bakers

A baker’s bio should say what comes out of your oven, where people can collect it and how to order before you sell out. Copy a bio below, add your product and your order days, and keep allergens in mind when you describe what you make.

Write your own

A bio that works usually has the same few parts. Fill them in for yours, or start from the example.

  1. What you bake
  2. Where you are and how people get it
  3. A line about how it's made
  4. How and when to order

Worked example

Small-batch sourdough and pastries in [city] 🍞 Baked fresh every Saturday, collect or local delivery Order by Thursday: link below

Tips for your bio

  1. Say your order days and cut-off in the bio. “Orders open Sunday at 6pm” or “collect on Saturdays” stops the daily question, and it makes a small bakery look organised.

  2. Be careful with allergen and diet claims. Do not write “nut-free” or “gluten-free” unless your kitchen can truly guarantee it, and state what you handle, because rules for allergen information differ by country.

  3. Check the rules for selling food from home where you live. Many places require registration or a hygiene rating, and a line like “registered home bakery” helps buyers only if it is true.

  4. Put a keyword and your town in the name field, such as “Mia | Cakes in Leeds”. People search for a baker near them, and Instagram searches the name before the bio.

  5. Pin a post showing your menu or price range, one with custom-order steps, and one with a customer’s kind words that they have agreed you can share. Visitors decide from those before the grid.

  6. Use highlights for “Menu”, “How to order”, “Flavours” and “Wedding cakes”. A person buying a birthday cake wants different answers from a person buying bread.

Questions people ask

What should a baker put in an Instagram bio?

What you bake, your area and how to order. Add a line about your style or ingredients and your order days, plus a link to a menu or form. Photos sell the cake, and the bio tells people what to do next.

Can I put prices in my baker bio?

You can give a starting price, such as “Cookie boxes from [amount]”, if your prices are stable. For custom cakes, ask people to DM date, size and flavour, since the price depends on the design and the work.

Do I need a business account for a home bakery?

It helps. A Business or Creator account gives a category label, contact buttons and insights, and it is needed for automated replies to comments and DMs. Whether you need a food business registration depends on where you live.

How do I get more orders from Instagram as a baker?

Post finished bakes and the process, make the next step very clear, and reply fast. A line such as “DM CAKE for a quote” or an order form link in the bio works better than “contact us”, and limited slots create a reason to act.

How long can an Instagram bio be?

150 characters. Spaces, emoji and line breaks count. Every bio on this page fits, and the counter beside each shows its length.
