Best time to post on Facebook on Monday
On Monday, the three big Facebook studies give three different answers: 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. (Sprout Social, 2026), 5 p.m. (Hootsuite, 2025) and 9 p.m. (Buffer, 2026), all in your followers’ time zone. No hour appears in more than one of them, so the honest plan is to test a midday, a late-afternoon and an evening post on your own Page.
Studies checked
Short answer
The studies split three ways: 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. (Sprout Social), 5 p.m. (Hootsuite) and 9 p.m. (Buffer). Test one of each on your Page.

| Monday peak | 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. | Sprout Social, 2026 |
| Best Monday time | 5 p.m. | Hootsuite, 2025 |
| Monday hours, ranked | 9 p.m., then 10 p.m., then 7 p.m. | Buffer, 2026 |
| Software and tech Pages | 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. | Sprout Social, 2026 |

Times are in the audience’s local time zone unless a row says otherwise.
Where the numbers come from
Monday’s best time was 12 p.m. to 1 p.m., a single hour beside the eight-hour windows it found on Tuesday and Wednesday (12 p.m. to 8 p.m.). It still counts Monday among the four best days, Monday to Thursday, and rates the weekend worst.

Monday’s best time was 5 p.m., the only day whose top slot isn’t in the morning: Tuesday’s is 5 a.m., Wednesday to Saturday’s 6 a.m. and Sunday’s 8 a.m. Its industry list adds Monday windows for education (1 p.m. to 3 p.m.), utilities and energy (3 p.m. to 5 p.m.) and nonprofits.

Monday’s best hours were 9 p.m., 10 p.m. and 7 p.m., in that order. Only Monday and Saturday had their top slot in the evening; the other five days peaked between 8 a.m. and 10 a.m., and the best time of the week was Thursday at 9 a.m.

Find your own best time
Studies pool many accounts at once. When your own followers are online matters more, and your insights show it.
- Open Meta Business Suite for your Page and start scheduling a post.
- Choose Active times to see when Meta expects your audience to be online. It needs some history first.
- Post a little before those times, and keep that slot for a few weeks.
- Compare each post’s reach and engagement in Insights, then try another slot.
Three studies, three Mondays
Ask the three big Facebook studies about Monday and you get a lunch hour, a late afternoon and an evening. Sprout Social’s Monday peak is 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. Hootsuite’s best Monday time is 5 p.m. Buffer ranks 9 p.m. first, then 10 p.m. and 7 p.m. No hour is shared by any two of them. On Tuesday, by contrast, Sprout Social and Buffer at least meet at 7 p.m.
| Study | Monday | Other days’ top slots | Headline pick |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sprout Social, 2026 | 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. | Thursday 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. and 8 p.m.; Friday midday; no weekend peak | Tuesday and Wednesday, 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. (its longest windows) |
| Hootsuite, 2025 | 5 p.m. | 5 a.m. to 8 a.m. on every other day | Tuesday, 5 a.m. |
| Buffer, 2026 | 9 p.m., 10 p.m., 7 p.m. | 8 a.m. to 10 a.m., except 10 p.m. on Saturday | Thursday, 9 a.m. |
Monday breaks two studies’ morning habit
What makes Monday odd is how it bends Buffer’s and Hootsuite’s patterns. Hootsuite’s best time on every other day falls between 5 a.m. and 8 a.m.; on Monday it moves to 5 p.m. Buffer’s top slot on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday sits between 8 a.m. and 10 a.m.; on Monday it jumps to 9 p.m., and even its third Monday pick, 7 p.m., is an evening hour.
Neither study says why, so treat it as a pattern to check rather than a rule. The practical lesson is narrow but useful: if your Page posts at 8 a.m. every weekday out of habit, Monday is the day to try something later.
Monday windows by industry
Sprout Social’s industry rows tell a different story from its headline. For most sectors the Monday window opens in the morning, well before the overall 12 p.m. peak, while Hootsuite gives Monday slots to only three sectors.
| Sector | Sprout Social, 2026 | Hootsuite, 2025 |
|---|---|---|
| Software and tech | 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. | No Monday slot |
| Financial services | 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. | No Monday slot |
| Retail | 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. | No Monday slot |
| Healthcare | 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. | No Monday slot |
| Travel and hospitality | 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. | No Monday slot |
| Food and beverage | 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. | No Monday slot |
| Education | 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. | 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. |
| Nonprofits | No Monday window; Tuesday to Thursday only | 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday to Wednesday |
| Government | No Monday window; Tuesday to Thursday only | No Monday slot |
| Utilities and energy | Not covered | 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. |
Education is the one sector where both studies name a Monday time, and even there they sit side by side rather than overlapping: Sprout Social’s window ends at 12 p.m. and Hootsuite’s starts at 1 p.m.
See your own Page’s Monday
Sprout Social’s guide describes where to look in Meta Business Suite: select your Page, open Planner, create a post and choose Schedule, then pick Active times to see when your followers were most active. If that option isn’t offered for your Page, your post history is the fallback.
For the history check, pull your last eight to ten Monday posts, note the hour each went out and its reach three days later, and see whether midday, late-afternoon or evening posts did best. A Page that always posts at the same Monday hour has nothing to compare yet, which is the reason to run the test below. Read every hour in your followers’ time zone: all three studies report local time.
A six-Monday test
- Weeks 1 and 4: post at 12 p.m., inside Sprout Social’s Monday peak.
- Weeks 2 and 5: post at 5 p.m., Hootsuite’s Monday pick.
- Weeks 3 and 6: post at 9 p.m., Buffer’s first choice.
- Keep the type of post the same each week, and three days later record reactions, comments and shares per person reached.
Skip any Monday that is a public holiday where most of your followers live, and add a week at the end instead. If two slots finish close together, keep the one where someone can answer comments soonest.
Tip: A 9 p.m. Monday post collects its comments late in the evening. Schedule it, then make answering them the first job on Tuesday morning.
Questions people ask
Is Monday a good day to post on Facebook?
Yes. Sprout Social counts Monday among its four best days, Monday to Thursday, though its Monday peak lasts only an hour. Buffer’s weakest day is Saturday, and Hootsuite names a clear Monday time, 5 p.m. Monday is a solid day, just not any study’s strongest.
Should I post on Facebook on Monday morning?
Not on the overall results: none of the three studies puts Monday’s best hour before 12 p.m. Some industries differ. Sprout Social’s Monday windows open at 8 a.m. for software and tech and at 9 a.m. for retail and financial services, so a morning slot is worth a test if your Page is in one of those.
Is 9 p.m. on a Monday too late to post on Facebook?
Not in Buffer’s data, where it was Monday’s best hour, with 10 p.m. second. The other two studies don’t back it: Sprout Social’s Monday peak ends at 1 p.m., and Hootsuite’s Monday pick is 5 p.m. An evening post deserves one slot in your test if your followers are online then.
Is Monday’s best time the same on Facebook and Instagram?
No. Sprout Social’s Instagram peak on Monday runs from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., later than its Facebook hour of 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. Hootsuite’s Instagram window for Monday, 3 p.m. to 9 p.m., does take in its Facebook time of 5 p.m. Check each platform’s audience on its own.
What about messages that arrived over the weekend?
If you answer through a tool built on Meta’s messaging platform, it can message someone only within 24 hours of their last message, so a Saturday-morning message is past that window by Monday. The human agent tag allows a reply within 7 days, but only from a real person giving support, never for marketing.
