Facebook posting times for businesses, by industry
The best time for a business to post on Facebook depends on its industry and on when its own customers are online. Sprout Social’s 2026 data gives every one of its nine industries a weekday window that covers 10 a.m., while Hootsuite’s 2025 industry picks are spread across the week, from Monday afternoons to Sunday mornings. Start with your industry’s row, then check your Page’s Active times.
Studies checked
Short answer
Start with weekday late mornings, around 10 a.m., a time every industry in Sprout Social’s 2026 data covers on at least one weekday. Hootsuite’s industry windows vary more, so test.

Where the numbers come from
Gives windows for nine industries in local time. Each has a weekday window covering 10 a.m., and software and tech is the only one with weekend slots (Saturday 7 a.m. to 9 a.m., Sunday 10 a.m.). Across all Pages, Tuesday and Wednesday from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. were best and Sunday was the worst day.
Sample: Nearly 2 billion engagements, about 307,000 profiles, Nov 2025 to Feb 2026sproutsocial.com
Separate windows for 13 industries, many of them narrow: real estate, legal and professional services at 5 p.m. on Thursday, marketing agencies from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Thursday, healthcare from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday. Across all businesses most days peaked early, at 5 a.m. on Tuesday and 6 a.m. from Wednesday to Saturday.
Sample: Over 1 million posts from businesses of all sizes in 118 countriesblog.hootsuite.com
No split by industry or business type, but a clear daily shape: Thursday at 9 a.m. was the best time, Wednesday the best day and Saturday the worst, and 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. was the weakest part of the day.

Find your own best time
Studies pool many accounts at once. When your own followers are online matters more, and your insights show it.
- Open Meta Business Suite for your Page and start scheduling a post.
- Choose Active times to see when Meta expects your audience to be online. It needs some history first.
- Post a little before those times, and keep that slot for a few weeks.
- Compare each post’s reach and engagement in Insights, then try another slot.

- Marketing agencies: Thursday, 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Where the two reports point opposite ways
Three industries get advice that can’t both be right. Government: Sprout Social says Tuesday to Thursday daytime, Hootsuite says weekends. Healthcare: Sprout Social’s windows are weekday mornings, Hootsuite’s is Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Hospitality: Sprout Social’s travel and hospitality slots fall on weekdays, while Hootsuite’s dining, hospitality and tourism group peaks on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
The reasons are mundane. The two sort businesses into different groups, their data comes from different months (Sprout Social’s from late November 2025 to late February 2026; Hootsuite published in November 2025), and each average blends thousands of Pages whose customers aren’t yours. A hospital and a pharmacy chain can share a label and still keep very different hours.
Tip: When your industry has two answers, you already have a test: take one slot from each report and alternate them for a month.
Post when someone can answer
A business post that lands well brings questions about price, stock, delivery or opening hours. Plan posts for hours when someone can reply, or set up automatic replies before you schedule a post for 6 a.m. or a Sunday.
- Public replies to comments have no deadline, though a quick answer keeps the thread useful for the next reader.
- A private reply to a comment, the message that lands in the commenter’s inbox, can be sent once per comment and only within 7 days of it.
- Replies through Meta’s Messenger Platform, which chatbots and auto-reply tools use, must go out within 24 hours of the person’s last message.
- The human agent tag extends that to 7 days, but only for support from real people, not for promotions.
Early slots are where this bites. Hootsuite’s 6 a.m. picks and Buffer’s 8 a.m. ones put a post’s first hours before many shops open, so decide in advance who, or what, replies.
Find your Page’s active times in Business Suite
- Log in to Meta Business Suite and select your Facebook Page.
- Open Planner from the menu on the left.
- Click Create to draft a post, then click Schedule.
- Select Active times to see when your followers were most active on Facebook over the past seven days, and pick a slot.
Those steps follow Sprout Social’s March 2026 description, and Meta moves Business Suite menus from time to time, so the labels on your screen may differ. The view shows when followers were online, not when they reacted or bought, so treat a busy hour as a candidate.
Then put the chart next to how your customers act. If Active times peaks at 9 p.m. but orders and bookings arrive before lunch, test a morning post against the evening peak. The slot that brings enquiries wins, even if it collects fewer reactions.
Several locations or countries
Both industry reports use local time. Sprout Social tells readers to schedule for the listed hours in the audience’s own time zone, whether that audience is in Los Angeles or London. Hootsuite’s advice for a spread-out audience is to post when each regional audience is most active and look for overlapping windows.
A business with a Page per city can follow each city’s clock. One Page serving two regions needs a slot that is daytime in both, or a separate post for each. For a Page split between the UK and the UAE, 9 a.m. in London is 12 p.m. in Dubai during British summer time and 1 p.m. in winter.
Questions people ask
What is the best time for a small business to post on Facebook?
Begin with your industry’s window. If none fits, try 9 a.m. or 10 a.m. on a weekday: Buffer’s best time overall is Thursday at 9 a.m., and Sprout Social’s industry windows nearly all include mid-morning. Then check Active times in Meta Business Suite and test your own peak against it.
When should B2B companies post on Facebook?
Neither study has a B2B category, so look at the nearest groups. Sprout Social’s software and tech Pages did best early on weekdays, from about 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. Hootsuite’s professional services peaked at 5 p.m. on Thursday, and its marketing agencies from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Thursday.
Should a business post on Facebook at the weekend?
Most of the data says weekdays. Buffer ranks Saturday the worst day, and Sprout Social finds no Saturday peak and calls Sunday the worst day. A few Hootsuite industries are exceptions: healthcare on Saturday, dining and hospitality on Sunday, government on both. If your customers shop at weekends, test one weekend slot.
Does Meta Business Suite suggest a time to post?
Its Planner has an Active times view showing when your followers were most active over the past seven days, and you can schedule a post straight into one of those slots. It reflects when people were online rather than when they engaged, so use it as a shortlist.
Do these times apply to Facebook Reels and Groups?
Not necessarily. None of the three studies on this page gives separate Facebook times for Reels or for Groups. If either brings you customers, test it on its own schedule instead of borrowing your Page post times.
