Tips for your bio

  1. Name your niche in the first line. “Coach” on its own matches thousands of profiles, while “coach for new managers” tells the right person to stop scrolling.

  2. Avoid promises of results, such as “double your income” or “fix your anxiety”. Coaching is not therapy, and claims you can’t back up put off careful clients. Describe the help, not the outcome.

  3. If you hold a credential, name it and the body that awarded it, like ICF. If you don’t, say what you did before coaching. Real experience reads better than a made-up title.

  4. Offer a low-pressure first step, like a free workbook, a quiz or a short call. Say it in the last line so visitors know what to do after reading.

  5. Put your niche keyword in the name field too, for example “Sam | Career coach”. Instagram search reads the name field more than the bio text.

  6. Use highlights for “Work with me”, “Client questions” and “How it works”. Coaching is a trust purchase, and people look for those answers before they message.

Questions people ask

What makes a good Instagram bio for a coach?

A good one names who you help, what the help looks like and how to start. Add a short line about your background or style so you sound like a person. Keep it plain: clients are choosing someone they can talk to.

Should I write “certified” in my bio?

Only if it is true, and name the body that certified you, for example ICF. Anyone can use the word coach, so a real credential helps, but an invented or vague one hurts trust and can break advertising rules in some countries.

Can I use a bio to get discovery calls?

Yes. End the bio with one action, such as “Book a free 20-minute call” with the link in your profile, or “DM COACH”. Make sure you reply quickly, because people who message a coach usually message a few before choosing.

Is it okay to promise results as a coach?

No. You can’t control what a client does with the sessions, and income or health promises can breach advertising and consumer rules. Describe what you do and how you work, and let clients share their own words if they agree to it.

How many characters can a coach bio have?

150, with spaces, emoji and line breaks all counted. Each bio above fits, and the counter next to it shows the exact length before you copy.
