Write your own

A bio that works usually has the same few parts. Fill them in for yours, or start from the example.

  1. What kind of food you serve
  2. Where you are
  3. Opening days and hours
  4. How to book or order

Tips for your bio

  1. Put your cuisine and area in the name field, for example “Casa Rossa | Italian, [City]”. People search “Italian near me” on Instagram, and the name field is what the search reads.

  2. Keep opening hours short in the bio and put holiday changes in a highlight or pinned post. Wrong hours in a bio send people to a locked door, which is the quickest way to lose a customer.

  3. Use one link and make it the action most visitors want: a booking page for sit-down places, an order page for takeaways. A menu PDF is a good second choice for a highlight.

  4. Pin a post of your most photographed dish, one of the dining room and one with your menu. A first-time visitor can then see the food, the space and the price level before they read a word.

  5. Add the allergen and dietary lines you can honestly stand behind, such as “vegan options daily”. Say “ask us about allergens” rather than promising a dish is safe for someone with an allergy.

  6. Tag your location on every post. People browse the location page before they choose where to eat, so your best photos show up where they look.

Questions people ask

What should a restaurant put in its Instagram bio?

The food you serve, your area, your opening hours and a way to book or order. A short line of personality helps too. Keep the details short and put the full menu in a highlight or link.

Should a restaurant list its menu in the bio?

No, the bio is too short for it. Link to your menu or booking page and save a menu highlight. If the menu changes weekly, a pinned post you update is easier than rewriting the bio.

How do I get more bookings from Instagram?

Make the booking link easy to find and say it in your captions, such as “Table for Friday? Link in bio”. Reels of the kitchen and the dishes people order most tend to bring more attention than posed photos.

Do I need a business account for a restaurant?

Yes, it is worth it. A professional account lets you add contact buttons, a category and your address, and it gives you insights on who looks at your posts. It is also needed for automated replies to comments and messages.

Can I use a bio with an offer, like a free dessert?

Yes, as long as the offer is real and you say when it ends. An old offer left in a bio disappoints people, so remove it as soon as it stops.
