Instagram bios for photography studios

A studio bio does a different job from a freelance photographer’s: it has to say what you shoot, whether people can hire the space and how to book a slot. Below are original bios for portrait, product and hire studios, plus a formula and tips on pinned posts and booking links.

Write your own

A bio that works usually has the same few parts. Fill them in for yours, or start from the example.

  1. Studio name and what you shoot
  2. Where you are
  3. What clients can book or hire
  4. How to book

Tips for your bio

  1. Decide whether the bio speaks to clients, to photographers who might hire the space, or both. If both, split the lines: the first for sessions, the second for hire, so neither visitor has to decode the other’s message.

  2. Put your studio type and city in the name field, such as “Oak Street Studio | Portraits, [City]”. People search for a studio near them, and the name field is what Instagram matches first.

  3. Pin a post for each thing you sell: one portrait session, one product shoot, one image of the empty space for hire. A clear photo of the room with the lights set up answers half the hire questions.

  4. Link to a booking calendar rather than an inbox. A visitor can pick a date at once, and you stop answering the same availability question by message.

  5. Show the studio, not only the results. Behind-the-scenes Reels of a session being set up help clients feel at ease before they walk in, which is what makes a nervous person book.

  6. Add your opening days and your address area. If you do not want the exact address public, say “Address sent when you book”.

Questions people ask

What should a photography studio put in its Instagram bio?

What you shoot, where the studio is and how to book or hire it. Add one line about the experience, such as relaxed sessions or natural light. Keep prices and package details for a pinned post or the link.

How is a studio bio different from a photographer’s bio?

A freelance photographer sells themselves, while a studio sells a space and a service. A studio bio often mentions hire, opening days and several services, where a personal bio focuses on one style and one person’s name.

Should I put studio hire rates in my bio?

A starting price can help people decide quickly, but rates change with time of day and equipment. A line such as “Hire from [price] an hour” works if it is always true. Otherwise point to a rate card in your link.

Which link is best for a photography studio?

A booking page with your calendar, or a simple page that lists session booking, studio hire and contact. One link is better than several, because each extra choice means fewer clicks.

How can I get more booking enquiries from Instagram?

Share real sessions with the client’s permission and end each post with one clear action, such as “Comment BOOK and I’ll send the packages”. Replying fast matters, since people often message several studios at once.
