Photographer bios for Instagram
A photographer's Instagram bio should say what you shoot, where you work and how to book, because your grid already shows the style. These 50 bios cover weddings, portraits, brand work and hobby photography, each under 150 characters, with a formula and tips on the name field, highlights and booking lines.

Tips for your bio
Write your genre and city in the name field, for example “Ana | Wedding photographer, Austin”. Instagram search reads that field, which helps people who search by job and place rather than by your name.
Your grid already shows your style, so the bio doesn't need to say you're “passionate about capturing moments”. Spend the characters on facts a client needs: what you shoot, where, and how to check your dates.
Leave the camera list out unless other photographers are your audience. Clients book for the photos, and a gear line uses up space you could give to your booking details.
If you book far ahead, name the year you're booking and change it as soon as the dates fill. A bio still offering last year's dates makes the account look forgotten.
Let highlights do the explaining: Pricing, How it works, Reviews, Behind the scenes. The bio then only has to point to them, and clients who want detail know where to look.
Running separate accounts for client work and personal photos? Mention the other one in your bio with an @. The handle becomes a link, so clients can see your range and friends can find the personal account.
Questions people ask
What should a photographer write in an Instagram bio?
What you shoot, where you work and how to book you. A few words on style help if they're specific, like “candid, no stiff poses” or “bright and airy”. Prices, packages and your process fit better in highlights or on the page your link opens.
Should I list my camera gear in my bio?
Only if you mostly post for other photographers or teach. Clients care about the photos, not the camera. Gear-led niches are the exception: on a film or astrophotography account, “35mm film” or “long exposures” tells followers what to expect.
Should my photography have its own account?
If you shoot for clients, a separate account keeps your portfolio focused and lets your personal account stay private. Instagram lets you switch between several accounts in the app, and each bio can mention the other with an @.
How do I write a bio as a beginner photographer?
Be honest about where you are. “Learning portraits in [city], booking practice shoots” is clearer than pretending to run a studio, and practice sessions are a common way to build a portfolio. Swap that line for a booking line once you start charging.
What should a wedding photographer put in an Instagram bio?
Your style, your base, where you'll travel and whether you still have dates for the season couples are booking. Couples often compare several photographers at once, so make the first message easy with a plain next step, such as “DM DATE to check availability”.
