Instagram bio ideas
Christian bios with Bible verses
A Christian Instagram bio usually does two things in a few words: it shares your faith, often with a Bible verse or just its reference, and it says who you are or what you post. Below are original bios for personal accounts, families, churches, ministries and Christian creators. Verses are cited by reference, with a few words of King James wording where they fit.

Write your own
A bio that works usually has the same few parts. Fill them in for yours, or start from the example.
- A verse or reference that matters to you
- Who you are: role, family or calling
- One everyday detail
- Optional: an invitation or next step
Worked example
Joshua 1:9 ⛰️ PE teacher, coach, dad of twins Faith, football and too much coffee

Tips for your bio
Short references save room. Common abbreviations such as Ps (Psalm), Prov (Proverbs), Phil (Philippians) and 1 Cor (1 Corinthians) are widely understood, so “Phil 4:13” uses 9 characters where “Philippians 4:13” uses 16.
Pick a verse you could talk about. A reference in your bio invites questions in DMs, and the best answer is your own story with that verse, not a definition.
If you quote the words, copy them exactly from one translation, keep it to a few words and add the reference. Blending two translations is easy to do from memory, and readers who know the verse will notice.
For a church, put service times in the bio and the address in your professional account's contact options, then use the link for a plan-your-visit page or the livestream. A first-time visitor then finds when, where and how without asking.
If you invite prayer requests by DM, check the inbox every day and say who reads them, such as “our prayer team”. People share heavy things in those messages, and a quick reply from a real person matters.
Let words carry the meaning of 🙏. Many people read it as praying, but it is just as often used for “thank you” or “please”, so pair it with a word like “praying” when that is what you mean.
Questions people ask
What Bible verse should I put in my Instagram bio?
One that has carried you through something, because people may ask about it. Short, well-known verses fit best and are easy to recognize from the reference alone: Philippians 4:13, Psalm 46:10, Proverbs 3:5, Jeremiah 29:11 and Joshua 1:9 are common choices.
How do I write a Bible verse in my bio?
Words first, then the reference: “Joy cometh in the morning. Psalm 30:5.” If space is tight, use the reference alone or a short form like Ps 30:5. Give the verse its own line so it doesn't run into your name or job.
Can I put just the reference, without the verse?
Yes. Many Christians recognize references like John 3:16 on sight, and anyone else can look them up. It also leaves room for who you are, what you post and a link.
Can a business account have a Christian bio?
Yes. Keep the faith line short and the business lines clear: what you sell, where, and how to order. Verses about work suit a business well, such as Colossians 3:23 (“do it heartily”) or Proverbs 16:3 (“Commit thy works unto the Lord”).
Which emoji fit a Christian bio?
The cross ✝️, dove 🕊️, open book 📖, church ⛪ and white heart 🤍 are common. ☦️ is the Orthodox cross, and 📿 shows prayer beads, which many Catholics use for the rosary. One or two is plenty; the words do the rest.
