A bio that works usually has the same few parts. Fill them in for yours, or start from the example.

- A local or personal detail
- One offer and the word to send

Tips for your bio
Put your role or area in the name field, such as “Jo Park | Tampa homes”. Instagram search matches that field, so someone typing the town and “homes” has a chance of finding you, not just people who know your name.
Check your advertising rules before settling on the wording. Many places expect the brokerage name, and some a license or registration number, on anything that promotes your services, and a social profile can count.
Offer something specific instead of “DM me for info”: a first-home checklist, a moving-to-[city] guide or a home value estimate. People know what they'll get, and what they ask for tells you whether they're buying, selling or just curious.
Use highlights as a shop window: Listings, Open houses, Buying, Selling, Area guides. Take homes out of Listings once they're sold, so nobody messages about a house that's gone.
Keep the bio for things that stay true. “Open house Sunday” goes stale by Monday, so put dated events in Stories and keep the bio for your area, your offer and how to reach you.
If you speak more than one language, say so in the bio. For a family moving from abroad, an agent who speaks their language can be the deciding detail.
Questions people ask
What should a real estate agent put in their Instagram bio?
Your role, the area you cover and who you help (buyers, sellers, renters or landlords), plus one way to start a conversation. A local detail makes it personal, and a license or brokerage line covers what your rules may require. Leave listings and market updates to posts and highlights.
Can I call myself a Realtor in my bio?
In the US, only if you're a member of the National Association of Realtors, which owns “Realtor” as a trademark for its members. In Canada the term is reserved for members of the Canadian Real Estate Association. If you aren't a member, “real estate agent” or “broker” says the same thing; in the UK, “estate agent” is the usual term.
Do I need my license number in my Instagram bio?
It depends where you're licensed. Some regulators require a license or registration number in advertising, and some treat a social media profile as advertising. If yours does, the bio is the simplest place for it. Your broker or regulator can tell you exactly what's needed.
How do I get buyer and seller inquiries from my bio?
Give one clear reason to message you and one word to send. “DM VALUE for a home value estimate” or “Comment CHECKLIST for my first-home checklist” says what people get and what to do. Then reply quickly, because someone asking about a home today may be talking to other agents too.
Should I tag my brokerage in my bio?
Usually, yes. Some brokerages require it, and clients like to know who stands behind you. Written as an @handle, it becomes a link to the brokerage's account. If you might switch brokerages one day, keep your own account as the place clients follow and change the tag the day you move.
