Write your own

A bio that works usually has the same few parts. Fill them in for yours, or start from the example.

  1. What you do: services or style
  2. Where you work and the area
  3. What you're known for
  4. How to book

Worked example

Tips for your bio

  1. Add “nails” and your town to the name field, such as “Mia | Nails Salford”. Instagram search matches the name field, so someone typing “nails” and your town has a better chance of finding you.

  2. Keep prices and policies in highlights rather than the bio: one for Prices, one for Policies (deposits, lateness, removals) and one for Aftercare. The bio then only needs “Prices and policies in highlights”.

  3. Pin three posts: your most-booked set, your price list and a close, well-lit video of a full set turning in the light. Shape and finish show better on video than in any bio line.

  4. Say whether clients can bring inspiration photos. “Screenshots welcome” and “Original designs only” attract different clients, and the bio is where they find out which you are.

  5. When you're fully booked, say so: “Fully booked for [month], waitlist open”. It saves you answering a stream of messages about slots you don't have.

  6. Choose Nail salon, or the closest match, as your profile category and leave it on display. It sits under your name as a quick label for anyone who lands on your profile from a Reel.

Questions people ask

What should a nail tech put in their Instagram bio?

The services you offer (gel, acrylic, builder gel, nail art), where you work and how to book. If you have a specialty, like short natural nails, freehand art or long sculpted sets, name it: that's what makes a client choose you over the next account.

Where should my price list go?

In a highlight or on your booking page, where every service can show its price and time. The bio only needs to say where to find it. Update the list the day prices change, because an old screenshot of it can turn up at an appointment.

How do I write a bio while I'm still training?

Say so, and turn it into an offer: “Trainee nail tech, model prices while I build my portfolio”. Clients who book model sets expect a longer appointment for a lower price, and being upfront keeps everyone happy.

Should I list my address if I work from home?

List the area, not the street. “Home studio, North Salford” tells clients whether you're near them. Send the full address once a booking and deposit are confirmed, and keep it out of your Stories too.

Should I list every service in my bio?

No. Name the two or three you most want to be booked for, since those are what people will message about. The full menu belongs on your booking page or in a highlight, next to prices and times.
