Tips before you post

  1. Always ask the client before posting their face or hair. Some people are happy to be tagged, others would rather their before photo stayed private.

  2. Take the before and after in the same spot with the same light. A window and a plain wall make the change obvious without edits.

  3. Photograph the back of the head as well. Cuts and colour are judged from every angle, and clients choose a stylist by the back.

  4. Name the technique and the time it took, such as a balayage or a skin fade. It helps people understand what to ask for in your chair.

  5. Do not promise results. Say what you did and what the client asked for. Hair, skin and brows respond differently from person to person.

Turn comments into DMs

Ask people to comment BOOK

End your caption with a line like this:

“Comment BOOK and I'll send it to you in a DM.”

What they get

the booking link, this month's open slots and a short list of how to prepare for the first visit.

DMFast answers each comment and sends the DM for you. The first message asks them to reply, then the link follows, because Instagram allows no links in that first message.

Questions people ask

What should a salon caption include?

The service, a detail about the result and a next step. For example, name the technique, mention the client's request and tell people how to book. Keep it to a couple of lines.

Can I post client photos on Instagram?

Ask first and keep a record of the permission, ideally written. Some clients prefer to be tagged, some prefer not to show their face. Follow what they tell you, and remove a post if they ask.

Should I write prices in my captions?

Only if they are fixed and you are happy to keep them current. Many salons price by hair length or time, so a 'from' price can mislead. Link to your price list or send it when asked.

How can I answer booking questions faster?

Ask people to comment a word such as BOOK and send them the booking link in a private message. On Instagram professional accounts, the first message is plain text and the link follows once they reply.
