Tips before you post

  1. Show the process in order: raw materials, the middle, the finished piece. Three photos in a carousel tell the story better than one polished shot, and the early frames can be messy.

  2. Keep personal details out of the background. Check screens, whiteboards, delivery labels and customer names before you post, and blur anything you do not want seen.

  3. Film a short Reel of the workspace with your own sound, not trending audio, if you want people to hear the real process. Captions on the video help people watching without sound.

  4. Pick one detail people can ask about, like a tool, a recipe stage or a sketch, and name it in the caption so the comments have somewhere to go.

  5. Do not claim results, awards or numbers in a behind the scenes post unless you can prove them. Describing what you did is more convincing than describing how good it is.

Turn comments into DMs

Ask people to comment PROCESS

End your caption with a line like this:

“Comment PROCESS and I'll send it to you in a DM.”

What they get

Comment PROCESS on a behind the scenes post and get a DM with the step-by-step photos, the tools you use and a link to the full making video.

DMFast answers each comment and sends the DM for you. The first message asks them to reply, then the link follows, because Instagram allows no links in that first message.

Questions people ask

What is a good caption for a behind the scenes photo?

Say what is happening in one plain sentence, then add one detail only you would know, such as how long it took or what went wrong. “Take fourteen, and the first thirteen had a cat in them” beats “BTS”.

What counts as behind the scenes content?

Anything that shows how the finished post, product or service was made: the workspace, the planning, the prep, the people, the mistakes and the quiet parts. It works best when it is unpolished.

Should I post behind the scenes on Stories or the feed?

Use Stories for quick, in-the-moment clips and the feed or Reels for a short edited version that stays on your profile. You can save Stories to a Highlight so new visitors can find them.

Will showing mistakes hurt my brand?

Showing a small mistake you fixed tends to build trust, because it shows people do real work. Avoid showing anything that would worry a customer, such as safety problems or someone else’s private data.
