Tips before you post

  1. Use a plain, matte surface: a pale tabletop, a linen shirt or a white page. A busy background fights with the nail colour and makes it look different on screen.

  2. Shoot your hands in daylight, a little away from the window. Direct sun blows out chrome, glitter and pale nudes, and softer light keeps the shade honest.

  3. Do a quick cuticle tidy and hand cream before the photo. Dry skin around the nail shows up more in a close-up than any chip in the polish.

  4. Show the detail up close and the whole set from further away. Nail art deserves a macro photo, while a plain colour looks better as part of a wider outfit shot.

  5. Name the shade and the finish (gel, builder gel, press-ons, chrome) so people can ask their own nail tech for the same look.

  6. Tag the artist or the salon. Nail techs depend on photos for new bookings, and a tag is the easiest way to say thank you.
