Instagram bios for nurses
A nurse bio can say your specialty, your humour or what you share online, but it should never reveal patients or your workplace details. Copy a bio below, add your own specialty, and use the privacy tips so your profile stays safe.

Tips for your bio
Never name the ward, hospital or any patient. Your regulator and employer may have social media guidance, and even a vague story can identify someone. Check the rules where you work before you post.
Keep patient content out of your posts and highlights, including photos where a chart, screen or wristband is in the background. A funny story can still break confidentiality if someone could recognise the person.
Say your specialty or your creator focus in the first line. “Nurse” alone is common, while “night shift nurse” or “student nurse” helps people with the same life find you.
If you sell notes or study cards, say what they cover and link one page. Students searching for nursing revision look for the topic, so name it plainly.
A short bio plus a pinned post on “who I am and what I share” works better than a long list of credentials. Leave your registration number off the profile.
Questions people ask
What should a nurse put in an Instagram bio?
Your role or specialty, a short personality line and what people can expect from your account. If you teach or create content, add a free resource or a link. Keep your employer, ward and patient details out of it.
Can I name my hospital in my bio?
Check your employer’s and regulator’s social media guidance first. Many ask nurses to keep personal profiles separate and not to name the workplace, since it can lead to patient identification and complaints.
Are funny nurse bios okay?
Yes, when the joke is about you, the long shifts or the tea, not about patients. Anything that mocks a patient, a condition or a colleague can cause trouble if it is screenshotted or reported.
Should I write RN in my bio?
You can, if you are registered and the title is right for your country. Do not put your registration number or licence details on the profile, and do not suggest your account gives medical advice if it doesn’t.
How many characters does a nurse bio get?
150, with spaces, emoji and line breaks counted. Every bio above fits, and the counter beside each shows its length.
