Instagram usernames for a business
Your business username should be your trading name, as close to exact as Instagram allows. If that’s taken, add one plain word that says what you do or where you are, such as studio, repairs or pune, rather than numbers or stray underscores. Below are 70 examples by pattern, tips on trademarks, and what a rename does to your links, tags and printed QR codes.

Tips for picking a username
Match it everywhere. Use the same handle on Instagram, your Facebook Page and, if you can, your website, so a customer who knows one can guess the rest. Endings like .studio, .shop and .co are real web domains too, so a handle like halden.studio can match the site address exactly.
Put keywords in the Name field, not the username. The Name field takes capitals and spaces and is searchable, so “Tidemark Plumbing | Emergency repairs” can live there while the handle stays tidemark.plumbing. Instagram only lets you change your name twice in 14 days, so settle the wording first.
Search the trademark register before you print anything: IP India’s public search in India, the USPTO’s in the US, or your own country’s. A trademark owner can report a look-alike handle to Instagram, and renaming after the van is painted costs far more than a search now.
Skip “official”, “real” and “the.real”. They tell customers that someone else owns the plain name, and impersonators lean on the same words. A trade or town word, as in tidewater.tiles.goa, looks like a real business instead of a second choice.
Claim the name the day you choose it. Open the Instagram account and the Facebook Page before launch, even with no posts: an empty account still holds the name while you get ready.
Read it over the phone once. If you have to add “underscore, then a dot”, customers will type it wrong. One kind of separator, or none at all, is the easiest thing for someone to copy after hearing it once.
Questions people ask
Should my username be exactly my business name?
As close as Instagram allows. Customers search for the name on your sign, invoice or packaging, so tidemark.plumbing is easier to find than a clever handle nobody connects with you. When the exact name is gone, add your trade or your town rather than digits.
What can I do if my business name is already taken?
Work through the patterns: name plus trade (halden.studio), then name plus town (tidewater.tiles.goa), then a word in front (hello.fernhill). An account that looks abandoned still owns its name, so don’t plan around getting it. If it’s using your registered trademark, Instagram has a form for reporting that.
Should I put my city in the username?
Only if you serve one area and expect to stay there. A town in the handle helps local customers and separates you from same-name businesses elsewhere, but it becomes a problem the day you open a second branch or start shipping nationwide. If in doubt, put the city in the bio and the Name field.
Will changing my business username lose followers?
No. Followers, posts, Reels and messages stay with the account. What you lose is the old address: QR codes and flyers that point to instagram.com/oldname, links in old emails and @mentions in older captions all stop reaching you, and someone else can later claim the old name.
Can my username have capitals or spaces like my logo?
No. Usernames are lowercase, with no spaces, and only letters, numbers, dots and underscores. Your Name field can match the logo, “Halden Studio” with capitals and a space, and it appears on your profile and in search results.
