Font generator
Font changer for captions, bios and chats
A font changer turns what you type into a restyled version, such as ๐ฏ๐ผ๐น๐ฑ, ๐ช๐ต๐ข๐ญ๐ช๐ค or ๐ธ๐๐๐๐พ๐โฏ, that you can paste into apps with no font settings. Type below and copy a style. Strictly speaking the font doesn't change: each letter is replaced by a separate Unicode character that looks like a styled version of it.

Where they work
| Where | Works? | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Instagram captions and comments | Works | Instagram has no bold or italic button, so changed letters are the only way to get bold or italic there. The sans-serif versions blend in best with the app's own text. |
| Instagram bio and name | Works | Both fields keep changed letters. Restyle your name or one line rather than the whole bio, so the profile still reads quickly. |
| Instagram username | Doesn't work | Handles are limited to aโz, 0โ9, full stops and underscores. A changed letter is a different character altogether, so it won't be accepted. |
| Facebook posts, comments and Messenger | Works | Changed letters paste into posts, comments and chats on Facebook just as they do on Instagram. |
| Facebook profile name | Doesn't work | Facebook's name standards don't allow symbols or unusual characters, so a profile name has to be typed in ordinary letters. |
| Search boxes, emails and passwords | Doesn't work | These need the characters a keyboard types. To a computer, ๐ฝ๐ถ๐๐๐ฎ is not the word pizza, so a search, an email address or a password written this way fails. |
What actually changes when you change the font
Every character you type is stored as a number, its Unicode code point. A font only decides how those numbers are drawn, and each app draws text with its own choice of font, so the font on your phone never travels with what you post. A font changer works on the numbers instead. It swaps each letter for a different character that looks like a styled version, and characters do travel.
| Style | S becomes | Code point | Unicode name |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bold | ๐ฆ | U+1D5E6 | Mathematical sans-serif bold capital S |
| Italic | ๐ | U+1D61A | Mathematical sans-serif italic capital S |
| Cursive | ๐ฎ | U+1D4AE | Mathematical script capital S |
| Old English | ๐ | U+1D516 | Mathematical Fraktur capital S |
| Typewriter | ๐ | U+1D682 | Mathematical monospace capital S |
| Small caps | ๊ฑ | U+A731 | Latin letter small capital S |
In bold, 16 of the 20 characters in โSame words, new lookโ are swapped; only the spaces and the comma stay as they were. That is why the style survives copy and paste, and also why software that reads text, from search to screen readers, may not treat the result as the words you meant.
Bold and italic where there's no button
Instagram gives you no formatting tools for captions, comments or your bio. Changed letters fill that gap. The sans-serif bold and italic styles are closest to the plain lettering the app uses, so a ๐ฏ๐ผ๐น๐ฑ word looks like emphasis rather than a different typeface pasted in.
Used sparingly, this makes a long caption easier to follow. A bold first line works as a headline, bold labels split a recipe or tutorial into parts, and italic sets off a book title or a line you're quoting. For example:
- ๐๐ป๐ด๐ฟ๐ฒ๐ฑ๐ถ๐ฒ๐ป๐๐: three ripe bananas, two eggs, a cup of oats
- ๐ฆ๐๐ฒ๐ฝ ๐ญ: mash the bananas with a fork
- ๐ฆ๐๐ฒ๐ฝ ๐ฎ: whisk in the eggs, then stir in the oats
- This week's read: ๐๐ฉ๐ฆ ๐๐ฆ๐ค๐ณ๐ฆ๐ต ๐๐ข๐ณ๐ฅ๐ฆ๐ฏ
Tip: Put each bold label at the start of its own line. With a line break before ๐ฆ๐๐ฒ๐ฝ ๐ญ and ๐ฆ๐๐ฒ๐ฝ ๐ฎ, the bold reads as a heading rather than a word that happens to be dark.
Changing your phone's font is a different job
If you came here to restyle your whole phone, that's a setting, not a text tool. Samsung Galaxy phones let you choose a font style in the display settings and download more, and some other Android brands offer fonts through their theme apps. iPhones don't let you replace the system font, though you can make text bigger or bolder in the display and accessibility settings.
A system font only changes how your phone shows text to you. Nobody else sees it, and your posts look the same to everyone as before. Letters from a font changer are the opposite case: the style goes out with your post, and every viewer sees it, drawn with whatever fonts their own device has for those characters.
Font keyboards and what they can see
Some keyboard apps type these styles directly, which saves switching to a generator. They produce the same characters, with the same limits. Before you install one, look at what it asks for. On an iPhone, Apple warns that giving a keyboard full access lets its developer transmit anything you type with it, and Android shows a similar warning when you switch on a new keyboard.
A keyboard that only restyles letters has little reason to need that access. If it insists, a web generator like the one on this page is the lower-risk route: you type a phrase, copy the result and keep using the keyboard you already trust.
Which style for which job
| You want | Try | Example |
|---|---|---|
| A headline for a long caption | Bold |
| A line from a review or a quote | Italic |
| A warm sign-off | Cursive |
| A heading with some history | Old English |
| A typed, diary-like look | Typewriter |
| A quiet second line | Small caps |
Numbers are where the styles differ most. Bold and typewriter have their own digits, so ๐ฆ๐๐ฒ๐ฝ ๐ญ converts completely. Italic, cursive and Old English have none, so digits stay plain in the middle of a styled line.
Questions people ask
Does Instagram have a built-in font changer?
Only for text you place on a Story or Reel: the editor's text tool offers its own set of fonts, and the result becomes part of that Story or video. Your bio, name, captions and comments have no font option at all, which is why people paste in changed letters instead.
Can I change the font of something I've already posted?
Partly. On Instagram you can edit a caption and paste in changed letters, but comments can't be edited, so you'd delete the comment and post it again. A sent DM can be edited for up to 15 minutes. On Facebook, posts and comments both have an edit option.
Will changing the font hurt my reach on Instagram?
Instagram hasn't said that styled letters affect how posts are shown, and there's no solid evidence either way. The known cost is narrower: words in changed letters may not match what people type into search, so keep the keywords that describe your post or business in plain text.
Why didn't some of my letters change?
Each style only covers certain characters. Italic, cursive and Old English have no digits, letters with accents such as รฉ have no styled versions, and punctuation and emoji are left alone. The generator keeps anything it can't convert exactly as you typed it.
How do I get my normal font back?
Retype the text in plain letters. Changed letters aren't formatting, so a clear-formatting button or a plain-text paste won't undo them. If you might want the plain version later, save a copy in your notes before you convert it.
