Match the style to your kind of account
There's no rule for this, but some styles already carry associations, and borrowing the right one tells people what you do before they read a word:

Whichever you pick, use it the same way every time, for example on the first line of every caption, so the look becomes part of how people recognise your posts. A second style for small details is plenty.
What you can change later
Some parts of Instagram let you undo a style in seconds; others don't. It's worth knowing which before you paste:

That makes your bio and your captions the best places to try a style out: you see it on the real profile, as followers will, and you can undo it at once. Paste into the name field and Stories only when you're sure.
Tip: Ask a friend with a different phone to look at a styled bio. If they see empty boxes or question marks, switch to bold, italic or small caps, which nearly every phone can show.
What the generator does with what you type
The generator works one character at a time. Letters it has a match for are swapped, and everything else passes through untouched. Knowing which is which saves surprises:

So if a word comes out half styled, look for an accent or a character from another alphabet in it. Retype that letter plainly, or pick a style that suits the word as it is.
Questions people ask
Do these fonts work on Facebook too?
Yes, in posts, comments and Messenger, because they're ordinary Unicode characters. The exception is your Facebook profile name, where the name rules don't allow them.
Which style is easiest to read on Instagram?
Bold sans serif, because it's the closest to the type the app already uses. Small caps come next. Cursive, Old English and anything with circles or boxes are best kept to a word or two.
Why does a style look different in Instagram than on this page?
The characters are the same, but your browser and the Instagram app may draw them with different fonts. Small changes in weight or spacing are normal; boxes mean a font is missing.
Can I put two styles on one line?
Yes. Convert each part separately and paste them next to each other, as in ๐ ๐ฎ๐๐ฎ ๊ฑแดแดแด ษชแด. Two styles on a line is usually the limit before it starts to look busy.
