Instagram link in bio checker
Type an Instagram username to see what its bio links to: a link-in-bio page such as Linktree, a store, a website, a chat link or nothing. We read the address only and never open the link, and we say in neutral words what each tool is for.
How it works
1Type a username
Or paste a profile link. The account has to be public, and nothing is posted to it.
2We read the bio and its first link
One look-up returns the public profile. We keep what we read for up to a day, so an account someone checked today costs nothing.
3The address is matched to a list
The list holds link-in-bio tools, stores, site builders, booking pages, chat links and short links. We match the domain only. The link itself is never opened.
4You see what it is
The kind of link, the tool’s name when it is on the list, a neutral sentence on what it is for, and whether the bio points people at it.
The kinds of bio link we sort into
A bio link is a link-in-bio page that lists several links, a store, a site made with a builder, a booking or support page, a chat link, a short link, a social profile, an ordinary website or nothing. The checker puts the address into one of those and, for tools on its list, says what the tool is for.
| Kind | Examples we recognise | What it tells you |
|---|---|---|
| Link-in-bio page | Linktree, Beacons, Komi, Taplink, Hoo.be | One page behind the bio link that lists several links |
| Creator store | Stan, SuperProfile, Topmate, Gumroad | The account sells from its bio link |
| Site builder | Carrd, Milkshake | A small website made with a builder |
| Booking or support page | Calendly, Cal.com, Buy Me a Coffee, Patreon | A page for appointments, tips or memberships |
| Chat link | wa.me, m.me, ig.me | The link opens a conversation, not a page |
| Short link | bit.ly, tinyurl.com | It hides where it leads, so we can’t name the tool behind it |
| Social profile | YouTube, TikTok, Facebook | It points to another platform instead of a page of its own |
| Website | Anything else | It may be the account’s own site, or a tool we don’t list |
A custom domain on one of these tools, such as links.yourbrand.com, looks like an ordinary website from outside. It shows as a website, and we say so rather than guess.
What the checker can’t see
- Only the first link. Instagram’s Help Center says you can add up to 5 websites to a profile (TechCrunch reported up to five on 18 April 2023), and the data we read gives the first.
- What is on the page. The link is never opened, so we can’t say whether the page loads, loads fast or says what the bio promises.
- Which tool is better. The descriptions follow what each tool says about itself, or DMFast’s dated competitor record of it, and nothing here ranks one above another.
- Tools we haven’t listed. For a few whose sites we couldn’t read, we say only what kind of tool the address belongs to.
Does the bio point at the link?
A link only works if the bio tells people why to tap it. The checker looks for words that point at the link, such as “link in bio”, “link below” or a pointing arrow. It flags a bio that never mentions its link, and a bio that points at a link the profile doesn’t list. It is a word check, so a bio written in other words can miss.
Tip: A short line that says what is behind the link, like “Free guide below 👇”, gives people a reason to tap that the word “link” alone doesn’t.
If you are choosing a tool
DMFast has its own link-in-bio page, and for sellers in India a store for digital products, lead magnets and 1-on-1 bookings. It is one option among several. The guides below include pages on alternatives to Linktree and Beacons, with facts taken from each tool’s own site and dated, and DMFast shown as one option and labelled as ours.
Questions people ask
How do I see what link an Instagram account has in its bio?
Type the username above. We read the first link on the public profile and say which kind it is: a link-in-bio page, a store, a website, a chat link or none. You can also open the account on Instagram and look under its bio.
Does the checker open the link?
No. It reads the address only and matches the domain against a list. It never fetches the page, so it can’t tell you whether the page works or what it says.
Why does it say website for a link-in-bio page on a custom domain?
A custom domain on a tool looks like any other site from outside. We recognise a tool only on its own address, such as linktr.ee, and say website otherwise instead of guessing.
Can an Instagram account have more than one bio link?
Yes. Instagram’s Help Center says you can add up to 5 websites to your profile, and that anyone, on or off Instagram, can see them. TechCrunch reported on 18 April 2023 that accounts could list up to five links. We read the first link only, so an account may have others we can’t see.
Does it work on private accounts?
It is built for public accounts. A private account may return little or nothing, and the result says when it can’t read the account.
