Instagram auto-replies for dog trainers
A dog trainer is outdoors with someone else's dog when the messages arrive: my puppy bites, he lunges at other dogs, how much is a lesson. Comment-to-DM sends the first answers while you work. Below are the words, four set-ups, freebies and what to be careful about.

Comment words for dog trainers
Ask people to comment one word in your caption or video. Each word sends something different.
- PUPPY
- Your puppy class: the age range, the vaccination rule, how many weeks, the group size and what is covered, such as biting, toilet training and settling.
- RECALL
- A step-by-step recall plan from your Reel: the cue, the treats to use, how to build distance and the mistakes that undo it.
- REACTIVE
- How you work with dogs who bark or lunge at other dogs: the first consultation, the quiet-hours walks and what progress looks like.
- LEASH
- Your lead-walking guide: where to start in the garden, how to stop pulling without yanking and which kit you do and don't use.
- CLASSES
- The timetable for group classes by level, the venue, the term dates, the price and what to bring on the first night.
- SESSION
- One-to-one sessions: at home or at the field, how long they last, the price and what happens in the first meeting.
- BARKING
- A guide to barking at the door, the window and when left alone: what to log first and which cases need a one-to-one visit.
4 set-ups to try
Each one shows the conversation it creates. After a comment, the first DM is plain text, as Meta requires, and the link follows once they answer.

Thanks for the comment. How old is your dog, and where does recall go wrong: other dogs, scents or squirrels? Reply and I'll send the plan I use and what to practise this week.Yes pleaseRecall in six stepsGet the planRecall fails differently for a six-month-old spaniel and a nine-year-old rescue. The age and distraction answers tell you whether this is a training gap or something for a one-to-one, before you spend a word on it.

Thanks for writing, and well done for asking for help. Has your dog ever bitten or snapped at a person or another dog? Reply and I'll send how a first consultation works and what to avoid on walks until we meet.Yes pleaseFirst consultation for reactive dogsSee how it worksBite history decides whether a group walk is safe or a private session is needed. The question is not a screen for good dogs: a coach must read the answer before the owner is offered a time, so it goes to you, not to the card.
Puppy class places from a Story poll

PUPPYThanks for replying. How old is your puppy, and have they had both rounds of vaccinations? Reply and I'll send the next class dates and how to book.Puppy class: dates and bookingSee the classClasses have a start date and a small number of places, and most only take puppies who have finished their jabs. Asking for age and vaccinations first avoids booking a puppy who then can't attend.
Prices for “how much is a session?” messages
SESSIONThanks for asking. Is it a puppy or an adult dog, and what is the main thing you want to change? Reply and I'll send how one-to-one sessions work, how long they run and what they cost.One-to-one sessions and pricesSee the pricesA lead-walking problem and a separation problem need different amounts of time. The goal question tells you whether to offer a single session, a block, or a conversation with a vet first.
Freebies worth commenting for
- A seven-day plan for the first week with a new puppy: toilet training, sleep and where to start with biting
- A one-page recall game list for the garden, building from three metres to the park
- A guide to calm greetings on the lead: what to do when another dog approaches
- A puppy socialisation checklist by week, from the first sounds and surfaces to the first visitors
- A checklist for choosing a dog trainer: questions to ask about methods and qualifications
- A barking log sheet to record when, where and what happened before, so the first session starts with facts
- A leave-alone practice schedule for dogs who panic when left, with short steps
- A shopping list of training treats, long lines and harnesses, with what to avoid
What dog owners message a trainer
Many messages come from owners who are tired, embarrassed or scared of what their dog might do. The first reply should sound calm, answer the practical question and ask one thing that tells you how urgent it is.
| They ask | Send automatically | Answer yourself when |
|---|---|---|
| Can my 14-week-old join puppy class? | The PUPPY page with your age and vaccine rules | The owner is unsure which vaccinations were given: ask them to check with their vet |
| He lunges at other dogs. Can you help? | The REACTIVE first-consultation page | Always read it: bite history and size decide the next step |
| Do you use treats or a check chain? | Your methods page, written plainly | They ask about a tool you don't use and want to argue it |
| How much is a lesson? | The SESSION price card | They want a payment plan or a block discount |
| My dog barks all day. Can you fix it? | The BARKING guide and log sheet | They describe a dog left alone for long hours or in distress |
| She snapped at my child. | Nothing: reply yourself | Always, the same day if you can |
Posts that earn comments for a trainer
- A Reel of one recall rep on a long line, with RECALL for the plan. Show the whole sequence, including the miss.
- A puppy class on its first night, with the owners' agreement, and PUPPY for the start date and age limit.
- A calm walk past another dog with plenty of space, with REACTIVE. Explain the distance in the caption, since viewers copy what they see.
- A short clip of loose-lead walking, with LEASH for the guide.
- A Story poll such as “what does your dog do at the door?”, with BARKING as the reply word.
- A grown dog learning a down-stay, with SESSION for one-to-one sessions.
Puppy enquiries rise after the holidays and in spring, when new litters are going home. Fireworks seasons bring a wave of messages from owners with a noise-sensitive dog, so have a pre-written guide and a clear note of who to see for anxiety, which may be a vet first.
From enquiry to first lesson
- The first DM asks the dog's age, or whether there has been a bite, so the card matches the problem.
- The card opens your booking page or a short intake form. DMFast does not keep your diary or take payment for sessions, so the form confirms the time.
- Collect emails on the recall plan or the log sheet and export the list as a CSV for puppy-class dates.
- Turn on the reminder for owners who asked about a problem and went quiet. A distressed owner often needs a day or two to book.
A trainer in India can use the DMFast store to sell a plan or a short online course as a digital product, give it for an email and take free or paid 1-on-1 bookings, such as a call to assess a behaviour problem before a visit. Payments go through Razorpay.
Things to check before you switch it on
- Behaviour and health. Pain, illness and thyroid or other medical problems can cause a change in behaviour. Say that a vet check is a first step for sudden changes, and don't diagnose.
- Aggression. Never promise to cure biting or reactivity. Describe what you will do and what the owner will practise, and be honest that results vary by dog.
- Qualifications. In many places dog training is not a regulated profession, so say what you have studied, with which body, and what your methods are.
- Methods. Owners search for “gentle” or “force-free” trainers. Use those words only if they describe what you do in every lesson.
- Other people's dogs. Ask the owner before filming, and don't post a dog's name with its address or a regular walking route.
- Meta's limits. One private reply per comment, within 7 days. DMFast keeps its pace under Instagram's hourly cap, and a Reel that takes off will simply be answered a little more slowly.
Tip: RECALL, LEASH and BARKING appear in ordinary comments. Attach each one to the Reel it belongs to, so a joking comment on another post doesn't send a plan.

Questions people ask
Can the first DM have my booking link in it?
Not after a comment. Instagram allows only plain text in the first message, so the DM asks a question and the card with your link follows once the person replies. When someone writes to you first, as with a Story reply, the card can follow straight away.
Can it tell if a dog is aggressive?
No. It sends your fixed message and asks questions, but it cannot judge a dog. Read every answer about biting yourself before you offer a time, and keep any child or safety concern for a personal reply.
Can AI replies answer training questions?
On the Growth and Business plans, AI replies are written only from the information you give them, at one credit per reply. Give them your class dates, prices and methods. Leave out advice on individual behaviour problems, and tell the AI to say you will reply personally.
Can I message everyone who did my puppy class?
Not in one go. Automated DMs reach only people who wrote to you in the last 24 hours, and official tools don't allow mass messages. Use the email list from your lead magnet, or a Story with a reply word for the next course.
I run classes on a Facebook Page. Is that covered?
Yes. Comments on Page posts and Messenger messages can get the same keyword replies. Story replies and “Only send to followers” are Instagram only, and a Facebook Group, where many dog clubs chat, is not supported.
