Tips for using these ideas
On a professional account, open Insights for each frame and check Navigation: forward taps, back taps, next-story swipes and exits. Drop the kind of frame people leave on, and repeat the kind they tap back to see again.
Judge a Story by replies and sticker taps more than by views. Each reply opens a DM thread you can carry on, and a handful of real answers says more about what to post next than a view count does.
Put the sticker early in a run. Someone who leaves after two frames never sees a poll on frame six, so ask first and explain after.
Keep text and stickers away from the top and bottom edges. Your name and the progress bar sit at the top, the reply box at the bottom, and anything underneath is easy to miss.
If you ask people to reply with a word such as SIZE or LIST, decide who answers before you post. On a professional account, an auto-reply tool such as DMFast can answer every Story reply that contains the word.
Add the Captions sticker to any Story where you talk, so people watching on mute can still follow.
Questions people ask
How many Instagram Stories should I post a day?
Instagram doesn’t give a number. Post when you have something worth a tap, and keep each run short enough that people reach the end. If your Insights show exits climbing after the third or fourth frame, that is your natural length.
Which stickers can I add to an Instagram Story?
The ones people can answer or tap are Poll, Quiz, Questions, Emoji slider, Countdown, Add Yours and Link. You can also add Mention, Location, Hashtag, Music, GIF and Captions, plus the newer Reveal, Frames, Add Yours Music and Cutouts. Some, such as Music, aren’t available on every account or in every country.
Can I see who voted in my Story poll?
Yes. Swipe up on your own Story to open the viewer list, which shows each person’s vote. People who vote only see the overall split, not who picked what.
How do I keep a Story after 24 hours?
Add it to a highlight, which stays on your profile until you remove it. If your Story archive is on, every Story is also saved privately, so you can add old ones to a highlight later.
Can I show a Story to only some people?
Yes. Share it to your Close Friends list, which shows a green ring around your photo, or hide your Stories from specific accounts in your settings. Close Friends suits early looks, drafts and anything personal.
What is the Reveal sticker?
It hides a Story behind a hint you write, such as “Guess what I baked.” Viewers see the photo or video only after they send you a DM, which makes it good for teasers and guessing games. Plan to answer those DMs: each one is someone starting a conversation.
