Tips for using these ideas

  1. Put the meaning in the first word. Names longer than about 9 or 10 characters get cut off under the circle, so “Prices” works where “Our price list” loses its ending.

  2. Name highlights after the questions in your DMs. If people ask “how much?” every day, a highlight called Prices answers them before they type.

  3. Pick one style and keep it across the row: all single words, all lowercase, or each with a matching emoji. Mixing styles makes a row of small circles harder to read.

  4. Rename dated highlights. One still called “Summer 2024” two winters later suggests the account has gone quiet; call it Trips, or file it under the year.

  5. Fewer, clearer highlights are easier to scan than a long row of clever ones. If two cover the same thing, merge them, and check your profile afterwards to make sure no name is cut short.

Press and hold the highlight on your profile, choose Edit highlight, type the new name and save. Renaming doesn’t change the Stories inside or the cover.

Do highlights disappear like Stories?

No. A Story disappears after 24 hours, but a highlight stays on your profile until you delete it, and you can keep adding Stories to the same one for years.

What highlight names suit a small business?

Start with what people ask: Prices, Hours, Find us, Reviews. Then add names for your trade: Menu and Specials for a café, Treatments for a salon, Classes and Timetable for a gym, Listings and Sold for a real estate agent, Portfolio for a photographer, Lookbook for a boutique.

Can a highlight have no name?

People who want a highlight with no visible name paste an invisible character, such as the Braille blank (U+2800), into the name field instead of a word. Check your profile afterwards: if a box shows instead of a blank, try another blank character.
