Answer price questions on your Facebook Page
When someone comments “price?” under a Page post, answer in public if the price is the same for everyone, and send the details in Messenger. Meta lets a Page send one private message per comment, within 7 days, and nothing more until the person answers. Below are 13 replies for comments and messages, from fixed prices to quotes, haggling and posts whose prices are out of date.

Public reply that states the price
It's {price} each, or {price} for two 🙂 We've also sent you a message with how to order.
When the price is the same for everyone, saying it under the post answers the next ten people who were about to ask the same thing.
Public reply when the price stays private
Thanks {name}! We've messaged you the price and the options, so have a look in Messenger 💬
Better than a bare “PM sent”, because it says where to look. DMFast posts public replies exactly as written, so leave out {name} if this one runs automatically.
First Messenger message after a “price?” comment
Thanks for your comment! This is an automatic reply from our Page: the {product} is {price}, and delivery depends on where you are. Shall I send the order link and delivery prices? Reply YES.
The Page gets this one message until they answer, so it gives the number straight away and ends on a yes-or-no question. Their YES opens 24 hours for the link.
Price list for someone who messaged the Page
Hi, thanks for messaging us! Every price is on this list, last updated {date}: {link} Tell me which item you're after and I'll confirm the price and when it can be ready.
A message to the Page opens the 24-hour window at once, so the link can go in the very first reply. The date tells people the list is current.
Price asked on an old post
Thanks for asking! That post is from {date} and the price has changed since then: it's {price} now. Want the up-to-date link? Just reply here.
Page posts keep collecting comments long after they go up. If your auto-reply runs on every post, point it at a live price page instead of quoting figures.
Made-to-order item, such as a cake
Our celebration cakes start at {price} for the smallest size, and the final price depends on the design. What's the date, and do you have a photo of the kind of cake you'd like?
A starting price plus the two details that set the final one. Swap in your own product: the same shape works for prints, flowers and personalised gifts.
Job that needs a quote
Happy to price it up! Most jobs like this come to between {price} and {price}. Send a couple of photos and tell me your area, and we'll come back with a fixed price by {time}.
Trades and home services rarely have one price. A range is honest, and photos plus a location are usually enough for a firm figure.
What the price includes
It's {price}, and that includes {what's included}. Delivery within {area} is {price}, or you can collect for free from {place}.
If you offer collection, say so here: for nearby customers it can decide the sale. Listing what's included heads off the “is that with fitting?” message.
“What's your best price?”
Our prices are the same for everyone, so I can't go lower on this one. If the budget's tight, the {smaller option} is {price} and does most of the same job.
A firm answer, given kindly, is fair to the customers who paid the listed price, and it ends the back-and-forth without a row.
Outside your delivery area
It's {price}, but we only deliver within {area} at the moment. If you're happy to collect, we're at {place} and it'll be ready from {time}.
Say where you deliver before they ask how to pay. It saves a disappointed message after they've already decided to buy.
How to pay
You can pay by {payment methods}, either online here: {link} or when you collect. We'll confirm your order in this chat once it's paid.
List only the methods you really accept, and confirm promptly while the chat is still active, so the order doesn't feel lost.
Sale price that has ended
The sale finished on {date}, so it's back to {price}. Our offers always go up on this Page first, so keep an eye out for the next one.
Don't promise to message them when the next sale starts. Unless they write to the Page again, no automated message can reach them.
Tickets for an event or class
Tickets are {price}, or {price} for a family of four, and under-{age}s go free. Want the booking link here? Reply YES and I'll send it.
Events, classes and workshops suit the comment flow well: everyone asking wants the same three things, the price, the date and the link.

Thanks for asking about the price! This is an automatic message from our Page. Everything we sell is on one price list, delivery costs included. Shall I send it here? Reply YES and it's on its way.Yes pleasePrices and delivery costsSee pricesUntil the commenter answers, this is the only message the Page can send them, so it asks for a one-word reply instead of carrying the list. List every way your customers ask: PRICE, PRICES, COST and the phrase HOW MUCH each count separately.

Rules to know
- Each comment on your Page's posts can get one private message from the Page in Messenger, sent within 7 days of the comment. Nothing more can be sent unless the person replies.
- Once they reply, the Page has 24 hours from their latest message to send the price list, links and offers, and every new message from them restarts the clock.
- When the 24 hours are up, automated messages stop. Meta's human agent tag gives a real person up to 7 days to answer a support issue, and it isn't for sales messages.
- A private reply can't be sent to another Facebook Page, so a price question commented by a business Page needs a public answer.
- A Page can't message people who only liked or followed it. A conversation has to start with their comment or their message.

Price in public, or only in Messenger?
On a Page post, the comment thread is part of the advert. Everyone scrolling past sees the questions and the answers, so a reply like “PM sent” or “Inboxed you” leaves the next reader with the same question, and they ask it again. When the price is the same for everyone, putting it in the public reply saves both sides time.
| Situation | Public reply | Messenger message |
|---|---|---|
| One fixed price | State it | The order link, once they answer |
| A few sizes or options | The starting price | The full list, or a carousel of products |
| Custom or quoted work | “We've messaged you” | The questions that decide the price |
| Trade or wholesale prices | “We've messaged you” | The trade terms, if they qualify |
| Price changed since the post | The current price | The up-to-date link |
Tip: Put the price in the post itself when you can. A comment flow is for the details that don't fit in a caption, not a way to hide the number.
Keywords for the way people ask on Facebook
DMFast matches comments by whole word, ignoring capitals, and a phrase with a space in it matches anywhere in the comment. Read the last few weeks of comments on your Page and list the forms people really use.
- PRICE and PRICES, which count as separate words.
- HOW MUCH as a phrase, which also catches “how much for two?”
- COST and COSTS, common on posts about services.
- PM and INBOX, for “PM me” and “inbox me”. PM also matches times such as “6 pm”, so leave it off posts that mention opening hours.
- DETAILS, on posts where the caption invites people to ask for details.
Two things DMFast leaves alone: comments containing a web link, which are treated as spam, and a second “price?” from someone the same auto-reply already answered that day. The Page's own comments are ignored too, so your public replies never set it off.
When the price depends on the person
For quotes, made-to-order work and anything measured, the first Messenger message should ask for what you need to price it: photos, size, date or area. Their answer opens a 24-hour window. Send the figure inside it, or, if working it out takes longer, ask for a phone number or email in the chat so the quote can reach them another way.
Don't lean on Meta's human agent tag to send a quote late. It gives a person up to 7 days to reply, but it's meant for support issues that couldn't be solved in time, and sales messages fall outside it.
What people ask after the price
- “Can I collect?” Have your address and collection times ready to paste.
- “When can I have it?” Give a day, not “soon”.
- “Do you have it in another size or colour?” Answer with what's in stock today.
- “How do I pay?” Name the methods, and what happens after they've paid.
In DMFast, the message that follows their YES can be a product carousel instead of a single link: up to 10 cards, each with a photo, a price and its own button, and every tap is tracked. On the Growth and Business plans, AI replies can take the follow-up questions using only the business information you've written, at one credit per reply.
To check the set-up is working, compare a week of price comments with the orders that started in Messenger. If plenty of people answer YES but few tap the card, the page behind it probably doesn't match what the post showed.
Questions people ask
Should a Facebook Page answer “price?” in the comments or in Messenger?
Usually both. If the price is the same for everyone, say it under the comment so other readers see it, and send the order link in Messenger. If it depends on the job, reply publicly that you've sent a message, and ask for the details there.
Can my Page message everyone who commented “price” on a post?
Each of them can get one private message, sent within 7 days of their comment, and nothing more unless they answer. On paid plans, DMFast can go back over comments from the last 7 days when you set up a new auto-reply. Older comments can only get a public reply.
Why did someone who asked the price get no message?
The usual reasons: they used a word that isn't on your list, their comment contained a link and was skipped as spam, they commented as a business Page, which Meta doesn't allow private replies to, they'd already had the message that day, or a Free plan account had reached its 100 people for the month.
Can I answer price questions on my Page without an app?
By hand, yes, and Meta Business Suite's own automations for Page messages, such as the instant reply and FAQs, can hold a saved price answer. Flows that start from a comment and send a public reply, a Messenger message and a link card come from apps built on Meta's Messenger Platform.
Do Instagram price replies work the same way?
Nearly. Both allow one private message per comment within 7 days and then a 24-hour window after each message from the person. Instagram adds Story replies and an optional follower check, which Facebook Pages don't have.
