Tips before you post
Take the photo early in the day while the light is soft and everyone still looks fresh. By Saturday night you will all prefer the blurry candid.
Shoot the crowd from behind, with the stage lights ahead of you. It shows the scale without needing anyone to pose.
Mud, wristbands, tent doors and food vans make better detail shots than another stage photo. Use one in a photo dump.
Post a few in the moment and the rest after you are home. Captions about the comedown land better on Sunday evening than on Friday.
If you tag the festival or an act, check the spelling first. Acts change their names more often than you would think.
Questions people ask
What is a good caption for a festival photo?
A good one names something only a festival has: the wristband, the wellies, the queue for chips, the walk back to the tent. A line like 'Wristband on, tent half up, already lost the mallet' says more than a generic 'best weekend'.
Should I post festival photos during or after the event?
Both work. A couple of Stories in the moment keep friends in the loop, and the main post after you are home gives you time to pick the best shots. Signal is often poor on site, so posting later is usually easier anyway.
How do I caption a photo of a group at a festival?
Write about the shared mess: the lost meeting point, the one power bank, the matching bandanas. Group captions work best when they refer to something that happened to all of you.
Do I need to name the festival in the caption?
No. You can tag the festival's account or add the location instead, and keep the caption for the personal side. It also lets the same caption travel if you go again next year.
