Tips before you post

  1. Shoot the book, not just the cover. A hand holding it, a mug beside it and a window in the background tells a story a flat cover photo can’t.

  2. Natural daylight near a window makes pages and spines look warm. Avoid flash, since it flattens paper and creates glare on glossy covers.

  3. Name the title and author in the caption or the first comment so readers can find the book. Add a one-line reaction rather than a plot summary.

  4. Say what you actually thought. A line like ‘slow first fifty pages, worth it’ earns more replies than a general rave.

  5. Avoid spoilers in captions and cover shots of final pages. A warning in the first line is courteous if you plan to discuss the ending.

  6. For a shelf photo, group books by colour or height, then change one thing: add a plant, a candle or a stack lying flat.

What they get

DMFast answers each comment and sends the DM for you. The first message asks them to reply, then the link follows, because Instagram allows no links in that first message.

Questions people ask

What is a good caption for a book photo?

Mention the moment: the chapter you’re on, the mug beside you, the seat you picked. Page 214. Do not speak to me suits a gripping read, and Window seat, grey sky, hot tea, no reason to move suits a slow afternoon.

How do I caption a book I just finished?

Give one honest reaction: how long it kept you up, which character you miss, whether you need a recovery book. Tag the author or publisher if you want a chance of a repost.

Should I name the book in the caption?

Yes, if you want others to find it. Put the title and author in the caption or the first comment, and keep any plot detail vague so nobody is spoiled.

Can I use these for bookstagram posts that sell books?

Yes, they are written for any reading post. If you are working with a publisher or being paid for a post, mark it as a paid partnership using Instagram’s label.
